Jim Cammack spoke about his business, Tonalta Music, in Port Neches. Tonalta Music teaches from age 5 and up. They opened their doors in 2004 in Port Neches and have been located on Magnolia Avenue since that time. They teach private instruction, group instruction, and band experience. Jim shared many videos of his students. One particular student, Beau Autin, was awarded a full scholarship and will be graduating this spring. The North Port Arthur Rotary Club has several veterans. They were asked to speak about their military experiences. Those in attendance were Dr. George, Robert Baldwin, Matt Roberts, Dr. Barry Davis, and Dr. Tom Fontenot. Our club is proud to have so many veterans in its midst. Ursula is back from her 50th cruise. She saw the Pope when her tour group was delayed by his security guards. She showed the twelve Rotarians present at the meeting this year's Christmas Table Cloth that will be raffled off Decemeber 9th at our Christmass party at the Pompano Club. At this week's meeting we were honored to have three of this year's scholarship recipients and their parents visit with us. Each spring the North Port Arthur Rotary Club awards four $1200 scholarships to graduates of the Memorial High School and Sabine Pass High Schools who plan to attend any of the Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange branches of the Lamar University System.

Conrad Cooper is a Business Advisor at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Lamar State College-Port Arthur. The SBDC opened at Lamar in February 1998 as a service to the businesses in our community. The center provides free consulting to local enterpreneurs and potential start-ups. Since their inception, they have created almost $77million in business capital, 447 new jobs, 295 new businesses, and held 499 training seminars. The staff have many years of entrepreneurial experience, that include Linda Tait as Director, Rex Steele in the role of Business Advisor, and Sandra Louis as office administrator.
