District Governor Fred Sandberg

made the annual Governor's visit this week.  He began by presenting President Janis with an International Banner and his home club's banner.

He stressed that one of the main duties of the Governor is to serve as a resource for local clubs.  He asked for a show of hands of those with perfect attendance and encouraged make-ups. He has enjoyed his experiences visiting clubs around the world.
He recognized our Roll of Fame members, Paul Harris Fellows, Multiple Paul Harris Fellows and Major Donar. He described the Group Study Exchange program and told about this year's exchange with a Brazilian Rotary District.  The term members are now being recruited.
He told us about the Hull-Daisetta Rotary Club House.  Although the Hull-Daisetta Club has been inactive for many years, the building that was home to the club still stands in remarkably good shape.  Plans are afoot to move the building to the Sam Houston Regional Museum grounds seven miles away where it will serve as a premanent exhibit for Rotary.  Donations for the project are being solicited thoughout the District.
As another first for Rotary a Multi-District Conference with six Districts participating will be held in San Antonio April 29th through May 2, 2010.  We were urged to make hotel reservations as early as possibe to show the hotels the they need to open a bigger block of rooms for the District Conference.
