Sabine Lake
This week's program was brought to us by Jerry Mambretti, Ecosystem Team Leader for Lake Sabine. He gave a 30 minute slide presentation on the Sabine Lake Ecosystem showing its development and the effects of Hurricanes Rita and Ike. He told us of a still-virgin oyster bed in the mouth of Sabine Lake and efforts to prevent havesting by Louisiana oytermen. He showed the results of monitoring of the fish population lf Lake Sabine. He discussed the Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone caused by fertizers and pesticides from the Mississippi River.
