This week's program was brought to us by
Port Arthur Mayor Bobbie Prince.

The mayor brought Mike Mason and Terry Hamilton to tell us about the One Block At A Time program that they manage.  On some Saturdays they have had as many as 80 volunteers to help clean up our city - one block at a time.  One building and several sidewalks were re-discovered after these cleaning efforts.  Workers have come from other states to volunteer their efforts at their own expense.  Some of these started coming to Port Arthur after Hurricane Rita.  They also do minor house repair.

The mayor also bought two Port Arthur police officers who talked about their activities working with Neighborhood Action Groups who work with graffiti.  They have volunteers who uperate graffiti removal equipment and use special chemicals to remove the grafiti without damaging the underlying finish.  They also discussed the illegal alien problem, specifically the criminal illegal eliment.  The also talked about their efforts regarding the local gangs.
