Roy Theriot

resident of southeast Texas for 85 years, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas.

Roy was born May 24, 1923, to Noah Theriot and Juliette Sandifer Theriot. He was a well-known businessman, entrepreneur and real estate developer who founded Roy's Food Center and the Brisket Room restaurant in Port Arthur, the Video Center and the Little Red Wagon Craft Mall in Nederland. He also owned Theriot's Grocery on Port Arthur's West Side for many years, which was founded by his father.

He was very active in the community, a past president of the North Port Arthur Rotary who helped establish their annual fish fry fundraiser. He received the Paul Harris Service Award from that organization. He was also a member of the Port Arthur Commodores, and Port Arthur Historical Society, the Texas Restaurant Association, the Texas Grocers Association and the National Retail Grocers Association. He was a WWII veteran who served in the US Navy in the Pacific. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, class of 1942. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Rev. Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service to begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Flora Theriot of Port Neches, Texas; daughters, Marilyn Greene of Nederland, Texas; Donna Wade and husband, Jim of Port Neches, Texas; granddaughters, Jessica Greene and Kelly Wade.
