Mac Nash - Superintendent of Sabine Pass Public Schools

wore another hat today.  Instead of talking about the Sabine Pass schools he talked about his other love - fishing and other recreational activities in Sabine Pass.

He pointed out that as well as being a port it offers great fishing and other recreational activities.  Although Sea Rim Park was severely damanaged and the buildings are gone there is still access to fishing and crabbing.  The boat ramps are still usable.  The beaches are cleaner and extend farther out than before Ike.  The water is also clearer now.

The bird sanctuary is also available.  The trees survived Ike and many people are bird watching.

In Sabine Pass Tammy's Old Time Diner and the Lighthous Grocery are serving good food.

Dick Dowling State Park was severely damaged and isn't open yet.  Bank fishing at Texas Bayou is popular.  Bank fishing and crabbing is good down toward the old pilot station.

Coming back into Port Arthur on 87 Keith Lake offers good fishing.  At the Keith Lake Cut a lot of people are finding the fishing quite good.  From Keith lake back into the Intercoastal Bridge bank fishing is popular.
