is responsible for craft hiring for his company.  He pointed out that you know that things have started picking up in the area if you have tried to get into a restaurant around 5:30 in the evening.  He told us that Bechtel Becon has 1,200 housing units under contract to house workers coming into the area and it is estimated that an additional 25,000 craftsmen will be coming into the area above the local workers available.
He complimented Gary Stretcher and Janis Hutchins for their efforts with Lamar Port Arthur in training local workers.  He also told us about the efforts to recruit workers from all over Texas and nationally.  Parking lots are being established to then bus workers into the plants.  Security checks will be done when the buses are loaded and the workers will be dropped off directly at their job site.
The employment boom that has been promised is upon us.
