Rotary Club of Toowoomba East
Making a Difference in Our Community
Service Above Self in Action
For more than 50 years, the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East has been committed to improving lives across the Toowoomba region through hands-on community service, fundraising, youth development, and support for local charities. The past two years have continued that tradition, with club members rolling up their sleeves to deliver practical projects that create lasting community impact.
Teen Challenge Queensland
Creating Better Spaces for Recovery
One of the club's major ongoing partnerships has been with Teen Challenge Queensland. During 2023-24 and 2024-25, Rotary volunteers completed landscaping and planting around the firepit area, helping to create a welcoming environment where residents can gather, build community, and continue their recovery journey.
Additional works included refurbishment of the facility's chicken coop, improving animal welfare and providing a more functional space for residents involved in the program.
FlexiSchool Support
Helping Young People Thrive
Rotary members continued their long-standing support of Toowoomba's FlexiSchool through regular working bees, maintenance activities, painting, cleaning, and gardening.
These projects help create safer and more welcoming learning environments for young people who benefit from flexible educational pathways.
SunriseWay Rehabilitation Centre
Supporting Recovery and Hope
The club has actively supported SunriseWay, a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation service based in Toowoomba. Rotary volunteers have provided practical assistance and labour to improve facilities used by people rebuilding their lives.
The partnership reflects Rotary's commitment to supporting community wellbeing and mental health outcomes.

Riding for the Disabled Toowoomba
Building Access and Inclusion
Recognising the importance of therapeutic riding programs, Rotary Club of Toowoomba East assisted Riding for the Disabled Toowoomba by constructing a replacement access ramp to meet accreditation requirements.
The new facility helps ensure continued access to equine-assisted activities for participants with special needs.
YellowBridge Queensland
Community Facilities Refreshed
Rotary members provided practical assistance to YellowBridge Queensland by repainting a large deck area used by clients and staff.
The project improved the appearance and usability of an important community facility serving people with disability and those requiring support services throughout the Darling Downs region.

Protea Place
Creating Safe Spaces for Women
Protea Place provides support and a safe daytime environment for vulnerable women in Toowoomba. Rotary volunteers assisted with renovation works, including improvements to outdoor spaces designed to provide privacy, dignity and comfort for women accessing services.

Community Impact Beyond Projects
Beyond practical hands-on work, the club continues to:
- Support local community organisations.
- Participate in youth leadership and mentoring programs.
- Assist charitable organisations across the Darling Downs.
- Deliver international humanitarian projects and scholarship programs.
- Raise funds through signature events including the Long Weekend Getaway and Outback Getaway.
