My Week in Rotary
Our week in Rotary began with the cluster meeting of the Rotary Club Presidents, held on Thursday morning at Soul Kitchen in Toowoomba. It was encouraging to meet with the other club presidents and to hear that, although each club has its own priorities, we are all working towards the same goal of serving our communities and strengthening Rotary. The meeting was positive, with plenty of discussion and shared ideas.
On Thursday evening we held our club meeting at the Toowoomba Sports Club. We were delighted to welcome our own member, Geoff Somerville, as guest speaker. Geoff, a retired optometrist, gave us a fascinating insight into his many years in optometry and spoke about the remarkable advances in technology that are shaping the future of eye care. It was an informative and engaging presentation that was appreciated by everyone present. It was also wonderful to be joined by our partners and lady friends, making it an enjoyable evening of fellowship.
Saturday morning saw a working bee at the Flexi School. Members attending were Ron B, Phil G, Geoff K, Andy B, Geoff S, Henry C, Paul S, Peter N, and John L, the team worked together to restore a number of timber stools by stripping them back, sanding them smooth and applying an undercoat. The project will continue next Saturday when we return to complete the finishing coats. It was another excellent example of Rotary members giving their time and skills to support our local community.

It has been a productive and enjoyable week, combining fellowship, learning and hands-on community service. Thank you to everyone who contributed throughout the week. I look forward to seeing you all at our meeting on Thursday.
