Another Great Week in Rotary!
What a wonderful week it has been for the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East!
Once again, it has been great to see our members getting involved, supporting our community and enjoying the fellowship that makes Rotary such a special organisation to be part of.
Thursday Evening Meeting
It was a pleasure to welcome Paul and Fiona Schmidt-Lee to our Thursday evening meeting at the Toowoomba Sports Club, along with our own Wendy Byron, Wilkinson Cluster Area Governor.
Wendy gave us an informative and in-depth outline of what is happening across the Rotary clubs in Toowoomba and the district. It was great to hear about the activities taking place across our wider Rotary community and to understand the opportunities we have to work together and support one another.
Paul Schmidt-Lee, from the Rotary Club of Toowoomba Metro, also gave us an insight into what his club has planned for the Toowoomba Mayoral Carols by Candlelight on 13 December 2026.
Paul encouraged our members to be proactive and to get involved — not only by supporting our own club, but by supporting other Rotary clubs and their projects throughout Toowoomba.
This is something I strongly believe in. Rotary is at its best when we work together. By sharing our time, skills and enthusiasm, we can achieve so much more for our community.
Thank you, Wendy, Paul and Fiona, for joining us and contributing to another enjoyable and informative Rotary evening.
Bunnings Barbecue
A huge thank you to all our members who worked at the Bunnings barbecue on Friday.
These fundraisers take a lot of preparation, teamwork and effort, and I really appreciate everyone who put their hand up to help.
A special thank you to Tony, Barney and Danny Rush for helping with the set-up, and a big congratulations to everyone who put in the shift. Well done, boys!
A special mention and thank you to:
Paul S., Danny R., Ronny B., Barney B., Mark R. and John Creedon
and
Peter N., Henry C., Alistair W., Andy B., Dave B., Geoff K. and Tony J.
Thank you all for giving up your time and putting in the effort on behalf of our club. Every hour volunteered makes a difference, and it is fantastic to see our members continuing to support our fundraising and service activities.
Tony has also put together the profit and loss figures for the barbecue, and we have achieved a great result for the club. Well done, Tony, and congratulations to everyone involved. The funds raised through activities such as this allow us to continue supporting worthwhile causes and making a positive difference in our local community.
A Great Team
As President, I sincerely thank every member for your continued support, enthusiasm and energy.
One of the things I enjoy most about our club is seeing people step forward, lend a hand and simply get things done. Whether it is attending a meeting, working at a fundraiser, helping with a community project or supporting another Rotary club, every contribution counts.
Our strength comes from our members, and our success comes from working together.
So, let’s keep the momentum going, continue to support one another and, most importantly, continue to enjoy the fellowship along the way.
There are some exciting opportunities ahead for the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East, and I am looking forward to sharing the journey with you all.
We are all in Rotary together — and together we can make a difference.
