Last Thursday, we held our Club Assembly, and I would like to thank all of our directors for their reports and for the encouraging plans they presented for the year ahead.
Youth: Geoff Kapernick
Community: Phil Gillam
International: Alistair Webb, with the report delivered by Mark Redmond
Thank you, gentlemen, for presenting your plans. It certainly looks as though we have a very good year ahead, with plenty of opportunities for fellowship, service and making a positive difference in our community. I am confident that everyone in the club will get behind you, support your efforts and help turn these plans into some great Rotary projects.
We then moved on to general business, which prompted some spirited discussion and a few different points of view. There are matters for us to work through, and that is all part of being a strong and active club. I am sure we can continue to discuss these matters openly and respectfully and, most importantly, work together to reach outcomes that benefit everyone in our Rotary Club.
This Thursday, we welcome Pastor Peter from St Stephen’s Uniting Church , who will speak to us about St Stephen’s Winter Shelter, offering safe overnight accommodation, meals and care, I am sure it will be an interesting and informative presentation, and I look forward to seeing everyone there and enjoying another good evening of fellowship.
On behalf of all our members and partners, I would also like to send our very best wishes to Tony Jarroush, who had a fall last Thursday afternoon. Tony remains in hospital for a little while as he continues his recovery. Please keep Tony in your thoughts, and if you have the opportunity, give him a call or drop in to see him. A friendly face and a few words of encouragement can mean a lot at a time like this. Tony, we are all thinking of you and wishing you a speedy and full recovery.
Finally, thank you to all our members and partners for the continued support you are giving to the club. It is that support, friendship and willingness to get involved that makes our Rotary Club such a great club to be a part of.
That’s all for this week. I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.
Remember, we’re all in Rotary together.
