One of our major annual fundraisers, The 2026 Rotary Charity Golf Day, took place on Friday and was a great success.
A good deal of fun was had by all, although I suspect the regular golfers derived slightly more enjoyment from the actual golf than me. I last hit a ball 22 years ago, and it quickly became apparent that riding in a golf cart comes back naturally, striking a golf ball with any consistency does not.
Despite my personal contribution to course maintenance, the day itself was extremely well run. Thank you to John L, Steve D, Henry C, and the team for delivering another successful event. The funds raised will support Hope Horizons, the cancer wellness centre we visited back in February, a very worthwhile beneficiary.
In an earlier email, I circulated the collated responses from our recent Club Health & Engagement Survey. If you have not yet had a proper look, please take the time to read through the results ahead of Thursday's Club Update meeting.
One area I will be focusing on Thursday is membership. While our club remains in a relatively healthy position numerically, we cannot stand still. If we want this club to be vibrant, relevant, and sustainable, we need to actively bring in fresh members, new ideas, and future leadership. This is not solely the work of the Board; it is a responsibility shared by all of us.
The survey results will also provide a useful foundation for Peter N as he prepares to take over in just 39 days. Ever since I joined the club, there have been calls for Peter N to take on the presidency, which he has consistently and skilfully sidestepped until now. The chains of office await.
Please accept the changeover invitation when it arrives and help Peter celebrate his appointment on Friday, 26 June at Picnic Point.
All Toowoomba Rotarians, Partners, Friends of Members are warmly invited!
