Thursday’s meeting was a noisy and joyful one, and also one of the most meaningful we’ve shared. We welcomed guests Viola Psaros, Chris and Adrienne Warmington, and several past members of West Toowoomba Rotary and their partners, who joined us for a tribute to our late friend and Honorary Member, Jock Psaros.
Chris delivered a heartfelt remembrance, reflecting on Jock’s remarkable Rotary journey across more than five decades and the deep personal friendships he formed along the way. It was a privilege to listen to, and a reminder that Jock’s life was the example of what we aspire to be in Rotary - committed, humble, and always ready to serve. There aren’t many like him anymore, and it is unlikely we will see his kind again. We were fortunate to have counted him as one of us.
Chris’ tribute can be read by clicking the link below.
We also heard the memories shared by Geoff K and Tony J who both knew Jock for a many years. At the conclusion of the meeting, Viola spoke briefly about Jock’s love of Rotary and thanked the club for its friendship over the years. She presented the club with Jock’s tartan Rotary cap, purchased at an International Conference in Scotland. A generous gesture, and one that will be treasured.
The reflections weren’t just about the past - they were a reminder that the strength of Rotary lies in people like Jock, who was an outstanding example of “Service above Self”. If we keep modelling that spirit, our club will continue to be the Greatest Little Rotary Club in the World.
Looking ahead, it’s the Club’s Christmas party this coming Saturday, 06 December, and a reminder that it is our AGM on Thursday, 18 December 2025.
