Out of the ColdOut of the ColdOn December 22, Out of the cold started for the first time in well 0ver a year at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church. While this program normally takes place indoors, Covid and security concerns required that it be held outdoors. Guests were provided with hot meals, sandwiches and snacks served from a food truck and tents. As the event organizers only requested two RTE volunteers, Mike Mooy and Walter Psotka were the only members at this event. It is expected that more RTE volunteers will be needed in the future, so if you are interested, please contract Walter Psotka. |

Rotary Foundation WalkOn Saturday October 31st, RTE members, families and friends participated in the annual Rotary Foundation Walk fund raiser. It was a nice day for a walk despite being a little cool, and in the Halloween spirit, we even had a few participants dress in costumes. Congrats to Sandy K for the incredible bat costume. This event raised over $6,000 for the Rotary Foundation! About The Rotary FoundationThe Rotary Foundation is a non-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from people who share its vision of a better world. Rotary Foundation grants promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water and sanitation, sustain mothers and children, improve education, and strengthen local economies. The Foundation is a worldwide leader in the efforts to eradicate polio through its partnership in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). It is one of the most trusted charities in the world and Charitynavigator.org gives The Rotary Foundation its highest score for Financial, Accountability and Transparency. Covid-19 ResourcesAs Rotarians, our attention is also instinctively turning towards the needs of the vulnerable segments of society. Rotarians are “people of action” and have risen to the challenge on many an occasion – be it a natural disaster, disease, drought or political upheaval. The Rotarian instinct is no different during COVID-19. Given the unfathomable scale of the pandemic and its domino effect on EVERY aspect of our lives, there are endless needs and an infinite number of worthy causes. One of the ways we are assisting our community is with access to helpful and trusted information on Covid-19. Please check out our new resources page and SHARE with family and friends |
