Jackie introduced noted broadcaster, writer and speaker Eric Freisen of Kingston, who spoke on Book Clubs for Inmates and his personal experiences as a volunteer during the 11 years this organization has existed since it was founded by Carol Finlay.  There are now BCFI clubs in 34 federal prisons and aboriginal healing lodges, and Eric’s club is in the maximum security wing of the Collins Bay Prison in Kingston.  In a moving presentation he testified to the thankfulness of countless inmates and the proven power of literature and these clubs to change lives.  On behalf of the club David Richardson gave thanks to Eric for his fine presentation and for the light he and BCFI were bringing to those in one of the darkest corners of our society.
