Our last meeting of the year brought members up to date on a number of important activities. There was no guest speaker, and the meeting was closed to members only.

Walter W presented the December 31, 2016 financial statements of the RTE Charitable Foundation. A copy of these statements is in the members only section of our website.
Tim V provided an update on the Membership Committee activities. While RTE has had positive membership growth this year, it has been challenging to attract younger members due to our cost and attendance requirements. As a result, we have introduced a "Young Professional" membership category for those under age 45. These members have the same voting rights as regular members, but pay a discounted membership fee and are subject to a more relaxed participation requirement of at least one meeting per month (or annual equivalent), and participation in one RTE committee and/or community service activity.
Joe C presented details of the International Committee activities. This includes The Burgiri WASH in schools project in Uganda. New applications include the Ontugoi Health Centre Water for Sustainability, Rising Out of the Ashes (ROOTA) in Cairo, and Toilets for Girls in India.
David CS and Norma provided an report on the Community Services Committee activities. Projects include Project Give Back, North Toronto Soccer Club, Vibe Arts, Out of the Cold and the Free Reading project. Additional details are available in the committee report.
Mike H reported on the activities of the Youth Vocation Committee. This included an update on efforts to hard launch the SPARK program which was delayed by unavoidable circumstances at the participating school.

Congratulations to President Elect, Joe Clarke.

Joe Clarke was unanimously elected as our next president. Joe takes the reigns when Barb's term ends in 2018.
