JPCI Team 6867 Panthera Tech Robotics Team
Jackie introduced members of the JPCI Team 6867 Panthera Tech Robotics, Rachel Lee, Norm Gilboa, and their teacher Eric Lee.
RTE is proud to supporter of the Panthera Tech 6867 from John Polanyi Collegiate. Using a robot build from scratch, and without the hands-on help of professionals, these incredible students won the Gracious Professionalism Award, and placed 5th at the recent Ryerson University Robotics competition.
Members watched a video and slide show of the event, and learned the different tasks these robots are expected to complete within the 2 minute, 30 second competition time limit. Designed to simulate space exploration, the JPCI robot is able to remove a hatch door, and climb onto a platform. You can see the team's robot reveal video here: Robot Reveal Video
Panthera Tech 6867 qualified for Ontario district event at The Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Missisauga. The competition starts at 8am on Friday, April 12, and runs through Saturday, April 13, 2019. Admission is free, and more information can be found at Paramount Fine Foods Centre website.
On behalf of RTE, Jackie presented JPCI Panthera Tech 6867 with a cheque for $2,500.

These funds will help pay for the costs of a student project to mentor a northern Ontario indigenous robotics team in the FIRST Lego League. The funds will also be used to support the JPCI student’s participation in the District Championship event which they qualified for at the previous event at Durham College.
