David Lockett – LifePlan Coaching Program: A snapshot of Youth Crime in Toronto

Guest introduction by Mike H.

David Lockett is a Toronto businessman, social entrepreneur, community volunteer and visionary, as well as a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. Between his volunteer work with the Redwood Shelter and the PACT Program over the past 25 years, David has helped over 15,000 people through his vision, passion, leadership and unconditional kindness. RTE has been there from the start through donations and volunteers.

David spoke about disproportionality in our youth justice system. A small number of repeat offenders are creating a massive drain on the system. With this in mind, PACT set out to make a difference to these individuals.

David shared a PowerPoint presentation and stories of young people in the criminal system that he has helped. High-risk category children can be identified even at an early age. There share common denominators that include abuse, poverty, food insecurity, and location.
The lifetime cost of ONE you in the system is $2.4 million. Pact has prepared a tool-kit of coaching strategies for helping these kids, and breaking this expensive cycle.

Stephen S thanked our speaker. RTE is proud to have a long relationship with PACT.
