Doug Nadeau Memorial Golf TournamentThe Montachusett Area Rotary Club collaborates with Christian Party Rental and Leo Gould for a special golf tournament in memory of Douglas Nadeau on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Overlook Golf Club in Hollis NH with an 8:30am shotgun scramble. A donation of $125 per person includes golf fees, cart, gifts and a delicious meal provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill with the hole-in-one sponsored by Banks Chevrolet. Proceeds of the tournament will go to The Hope Lodge in Boston MA and The Arc of Opportunity in North Central Massachusetts. Doug Nadeau was a member of the Montachusett Area Rotary Club for over 20 years, past Executive Director of Matson Community Services now merged with The Arc of Opportunity, and a very dear friend of Leo Gould. “Doug would do anything for anybody, no matter how long it took him to do,” Leo Gould states. Doug worked tirelessly as the main liaison for the Montachusett Area Rotary Club Scapparone-Ficarra Memorial Golf Tournament for 9 years that took a one-year hiatus due to Doug’s passing in late 2012 of cancer. The tournament provided over ¼ million dollars towards The Arc of Opportunity’s Recreation program over the past 25 years. Leo Gould approached the club to collaborate on his last benefit golf tournament. Leo’s wife recently won her own battle with cancer and his personal experience with The Hope Lodge in Boston left him wanting to give back to the program for their generous hospitality for people suffering cancer. The Hope Lodge is a state of the art facility located in Jamaica Plain for people receiving treatments for cancer who live farther than 40 miles from the treatment center. There is no charge to stay at The Hope Lodge for the patient and their caregiver. The Montachusett Area Rotary and Christian Party Rental are currently looking for event sponsors and registrations for golfers. For more information, to sponsor the tournament, or register as a golfer contact: Joan Ficarra at 978-549-1455, Leo Gould at 603-759-3846, or John Sbrogna at 508-890-6212. |
