DG Jim had food/foundation $’s, happy $ for inducting Sarah Proctor into our Rotary club this morning, he will be speaking on Tuesday at the Southbridge club as they are chartering a new interact club which is youth programs.
Michelle had a happy $ for we are moving closer to daylight savings time, signup for the District Conference and welcome Sarah into the club!
Nick had food/foundation $’s and spring is around the corner!
Joanne had food/foundation $’s, glad to be back and GO Pats!
Sarah had a happy $ to official become a new member of Monty Broc and here’s a counter-act $ b’c she wants snow – we need snow!
John S. had foundation $’s and gave a John Owing’s moment the reason why he doesn’t give food $’s!
Lynne had food/foundation $’s, had sad $ for missing Holiday party and her arm is killing her b’c of the shots she had to get for her trip to Guyana next month!
Rick had food $’s and $ for failing Deb LaPointe!
Jim H. had food/foundation $’s, spoke about the Ark club and their major drive…
Ali had food $’s, sad $ b’c she has Justin Bieber song stuck in her head and had a wonderful baby shower for her sister!

President Leslie had a finding $ for Mom b’c she couldn’t find her passport for her trip but didn’t need it but of have gotten lost during the move, booked a room at the Hilton incase weather is bad when picking up Mom but will cancel b’c it doesn’t look too bad and will be going to Florida next week so Jen will be filling in for her!
 
Ali was the winner of ticket #828 and pulled a “king” for $1.00…Congrats!!
 
We had DG Jim Fusco induct Sarah Proctor into Monty Broc this morning as a corporate member as Jen Peck is her sponsor. Rotary has grown by 1 this morning with Sarah. We have 1.2 million members with 35,000 clubs in the world. Jay Mayo gave her the Woodruff key and explained the story behind it with the rotary wheel.
We had club forum this morning and President Leslie went over the following:
  • Monthly attendance; December was 76.81% with YTD at 75.10%. Don’t forget you can do e-make-ups – http://rotaryeclubone.org/. You MUST report make-ups to President Leslie to get credit.
  • Everyone was given a blank TMOTTBG mailing list so you can invite people you know, business owners, etc.
  • Handed out the new Slate of Officers for 2016-17. We need to focus on membership, need more classifications.

  • 5/14/16 – Apple Blossom Festival @ Sholan Farms BUT we are not doing fried dough this year due to the District Conference the following weekend. We will have an information booth that day up there.
  • May 20th, 21st and 22nd 2016– District Conference, Plymouth Ma. We will be hosting a hospitality “sweet” the theme this year is “Plymouth Rocks!”

    We had Bob (?) a representative from Shen Yun Performing Arts that came to speak with us on experiencing a divine culture at these shows they put on. Shen Yun’s one-of-a-kind performance revives stories and legends from thousands of years of Chinese culture. With the richly expressive art of classical Chinese dance, groundbreaking musical compositions and cutting-edge, interactive stage effects, Shen Yun is leaving millions around the world in awe. You check out their schedule at ShenYun.com or call at 888-974-3698 for more info. Shen Yun Performing Arts is a non-profit organization based in New York. Its mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture. Shen Yun cannot be seen in China today. He also spoke about ancient roots, Huang Di, Taosim, Confucianism, Buddhism, Cultivation, the story of Yang Zhen, Tang Dynasty and the cultural re-birth. The key elements of classical Chinese dance which are form, technique and yun/bearing…very expressive! Along with the backdrops they use for the shows, the costumes, the orchestra, the instruments they use such as the pipa and erhu. Very intriguing topic that Bob shared with us.
  • Another speaker we had this month; Christina Lashua introduced Jimmy Ignazio from MFS. He spoke about the economy, corporate America, rates, dividends, 3-5 investments, cap ex spending, etc. We are here to grow as China was growing but now everything is changing drastically with them. Jimmy spoke about acquisitions/mergers and share buy backs. How temporary jobs don’t help the GPD as permanent ones do and commented that aggregate hours work better to monitor. Nice introduction for 2016!
  • On December 17th we had the Skyview Chorus come sing to us again with Brenda Lemay (Ellen Gale’s daughter) leading them. The chorus is made up of 6th, 7th and 8th graders and they have to audition for this role. They sang many songs that morning and really enjoy hearing them to get us in the spirit! Thanks, Brenda and Ellen for a spectacular show!!!
