Rotary Bulletin: 2025 Scholarship RecipientsCongratulations to our two students from Carson High School for receiving the 2025 Rotary Scholarships. Scholarships were awarded to Ashlyn Pablico and Matthew Muros. Ashlyn plans to pursue a music degree, and Matthew plans to study electrical engineering, both at California State University Dominguez Hills. Since 1997, the Rotary Club of Carson Gardena Dominguez has provided scholarship assistance to Carson High School seniors pursuing higher education goals at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Since the program’s inception, the club has awarded close to $180,000 in scholarship money. Each student received $2,000 to help cover their tuition and educational expenses. We are so pleased to support both our local students and CSUDH. |
Rotaract Club - CSU Dominguez Hills The newly chartered Dominguez Hills Rotaract celebrated with their sponsoring Rotary Clubs of CGD and San Pedro. Rotaract President Dawson "Ray" White and other members shared their various service projects and enthusiastic plans for the upcoming year. CSUDH and the surrounding communities will benefit from the Rotaract member’s partnership with their sponsoring Rotary clubs and commitment to service.

Revved Up for a Cause: Highlights from the 2025 Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Grand Prix Fundraiser
The Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club hosted another successful Grand Prix Fundraiser, bringing the community together for a day of racing, fun, and fundraising. The event raised essential funds for local programs and featured a lively 50/50 drawing, where a representative from the Boys and Girls Club of Carson took home $400. This year, the Paramount Rotary Club claimed first place in the race, ending the six-year winning streak of the Oddfellows. Paramount Rotary President Linda Timmons celebrated the win alongside her team. Organizer Christopher Childers expressed pride in the event’s impact, saying, “Events like this show the true spirit of Rotary—service, fun, and community all rolled into one.” Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the day a success. She highlighted the invasive nature of smoke particles and the growing push for smoke-free multi-family housing. Kimberly encouraged property owners to adopt smoke-free lease agreements and called on local leaders to pass protective ordinances. Members left inspired to support healthier, safer communities.  |

A Magical Visit and an Exciting Invitation |
Water Recycling Program On August 14, 2024 the Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club recently welcomed Elisa Mendez from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and Amy Rocha from West Basin MWD as guest speakers. They presented an insightful discussion on the Pure Water Southern California project, an ambitious regional water recycling initiative. This groundbreaking program aims to purify and reuse cleaned wastewater that would otherwise flow into the ocean, addressing both environmental and water supply challenges. At full scale, the project is expected to produce 150 million gallons of purified water each day, representing a significant step forward in sustainable water management for the region. The Rotary Club members were engaged and inspired by the potential of this innovative project to secure a reliable water future for Southern California. |

Operation Gobble Please join us on November 19, 2020 to help package Thanksgiving meals for 250 families in need in the Carson, Gardena, and Rancho Dominguez communities. We are looking for volunteers to help pack the food boxes and load them into the recipients' cars. Masks and gloves will be provided for all volunteers. Beirut Relief Fund On August 4, the city of Beirut, Lebanon was rocked by a devastating explosion. The death toll is still climbing and thousands have been injured. Rotary District 5280, in partnership with the LA Cedars Rotary club, has created the Beirut Relief Fund. This fund will provide food, shelter, medical aid, the cleaning of debris and reconstruction to the victims of this disaster. The donations received through the Beirut Relief Fund will be sent directly to the Rotary Clubs in Lebanon who will provide on the ground aid. 100% of the donations will be handled by our Rotary Club partners in Beirut, ensuring that the funds are put towards those who need it most. |
CGD Hand Sanitizers Project 2020 With COVID-19 impacting communities around the world, the Rotary Club of Carson Gardena Dominguez is trying to help our local community members who may not have access or the resources to obtain hand sanitizer. We are seeking donations to bring hand sanitizer to low-income neighborhoods, school children and the homeless. At the beginning of the COVID-19 public health emergency, the use of hand sanitizer was determined to be an essential means of providing personal hygiene when hand washing was not an option. The availability of hand sanitizer quickly became an issue as production was insufficient to meet the needs of health care workers, first responders and the broader community.
