The Rotary Club of Carson Gardena Dominguez paid a visit to the Carson Street Elementary School to deliver 100 dictionaries to the 3rd grade classes.
The gift was in honor of the school's 100th anniversary. The students were wonderful. They were inquisitive, respectful and appreciative. The Carson Street Elementary School is ranked in the top 30% of schools. Unfortunately, many of our local schools are ranked in the bottom 50%. The club's goal is to continue to provide dictionaries to 3rd grade students.
We hope this simple act fosters a desire for learning and opens a door to increased curiosity. In a world where the internet is used more and more, having a real book allows students and their family members to explore words and improve literacy.
