District Governor Makiko Nagasone visited the Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club in September, and it was a pleasure to welcome her. She aided us with recognizing some of our members and the presentation of certificates. We look forward to representing our district under her administration for the rest of this wonderful Rotary year.
District Governor Makiko Nagasone went on her expedition to every single club in District 5280 in the Fall of 2023. In September, she visited our CGD Rotary club where she met with our board and our club. She met with our board members in an exchange of ideas and projects describing what our club's initiatives are and the projection for the rest of this Rotary year. After that engagement, she joined the rest of our club for our Wednesday weekly meeting where she played an imperative role in recognizing some of our amazing members.
We wanted to give a special and formal token of gratitude to our previous president who led us during unprecedented times: Sheri Repp-Loadsman. Governor Makiko helped us recognize her with a gift and a speech explaining our unending appreciation for all she accomplished. Governor Makiko added on about Sheri's current role has been almost seamless as she takes on all her projects with kindness, compassion, and devotion.
We then were able to recognize quite an achievement by one of our members Rouena Benson in earning her next Paul Harris pin. Rouena has devoted time, money, and heart to all the programs she has helped in. It was only fitting to give her this award with our District Governor to provide words of appreciation and the achievement itself. We cannot wait to see all the other great works Rouena will be a part of.
Finally, we were able to recognize some of our members for their various works in the club like Kate Nutting being given the "Unsung Hero" certificate. We loved being able to show our club members that we see all the care they put into the club and its works to make sure the community is served by Rotary. We were able to give over five awards with Governor Makiko.
This meeting was one of our favorites as we were able to spend so much time with our amazing District Governor Makiko Nagasone and recognize our membership! This year has already been off to a great start, and we cannot wait to see how much further it will go! If you are thinking about making a change and becoming a part of these generous projects, reach out to us or visit one of our Wednesday club meetings. We will see you there!
