On August 14, 2024 the Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club recently welcomed Elisa Mendez from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and Amy Rocha from West Basin MWD as guest speakers. They presented an insightful discussion on the Pure Water Southern California project, an ambitious regional water recycling initiative. This groundbreaking program aims to purify and reuse cleaned wastewater that would otherwise flow into the ocean, addressing both environmental and water supply challenges. At full scale, the project is expected to produce 150 million gallons of purified water each day, representing a significant step forward in sustainable water management for the region. The Rotary Club members were engaged and inspired by the potential of this innovative project to secure a reliable water future for Southern California.
