The City of Gardena's National Night Out was hosted on August 5 at Gardena City Hall. The club had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the community, share information about our club, and promote our signature service project, Operation Gobble!
The Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club welcomed new Gardena Police Chief, Todd Fox as the first speaker of the 2025-26 Rotary year. Chief Fox shared his background in law enforcement, the initiatives of the department, and the importance of community relationships.
The club joined together to recognize the outstanding efforts made by President Kate Nutting during the 2024-25 Rotary season. Also recognized, were the incoming officers and directors for the 2025-26 season. The fearless Sheri Repp-Loadsman will lead the club into the new 2025-26 Rotary year and serve as Club President.
Congratulations to our two students from Carson High School for receiving the 2025 Rotary Scholarships. Scholarships were awarded to Ashlyn Pablico and Matthew Muros. Ashlyn plans to pursue a music degree, and Matthew plans to study electrical engineering, both at California State University Dominguez Hills.
Since 1997, the Rotary Club of Carson Gardena Dominguez has provided scholarship assistance to Carson High School seniors pursuing higher education goals at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Since the program’s inception, the club has awarded close to $180,000 in scholarship money. Each student received $2,000 to help cover their tuition and educational expenses. We are so pleased to support both our local students and CSUDH.
The newly chartered Dominguez Hills Rotaract celebrated with their sponsoring Rotary Clubs of CGD and San Pedro. Rotaract President Dawson "Ray" White and other members shared their various service projects and enthusiastic plans for the upcoming year. CSUDH and the surrounding communities will benefit from the Rotaract member’s partnership with their sponsoring Rotary clubs and commitment to service.
The Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club hosted another successful Grand Prix Fundraiser, bringing the community together for a day of racing, fun, and fundraising. The event raised essential funds for local programs and featured a lively 50/50 drawing, where a representative from the Boys and Girls Club of Carson took home $400.
This year, the Paramount Rotary Club claimed first place in the race, ending the six-year winning streak of the Oddfellows. Paramount Rotary President Linda Timmons celebrated the win alongside her team.
Organizer Christopher Childers expressed pride in the event’s impact, saying, “Events like this show the true spirit of Rotary—service, fun, and community all rolled into one.”

On November 21, 2024, we’ll provide families with boxes of traditional holiday items and gift cards from a local market for a main dish. With food prices rising, every donation makes a big impact. Help us make this Thanksgiving special for our community!
Kimberly Peck from the American Lung Association joined our club to discuss the serious health impacts of smoke. She highlighted the invasive nature of smoke particles and the growing push for smoke-free multi-family housing. Kimberly encouraged property owners to adopt smoke-free lease agreements and called on local leaders to pass protective ordinances. Members left inspired to support healthier, safer communities.
Our members attended the sold-out 5280 Rotary Bowl at SoFi Stadium, a once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with excitement! Dressed in favorite game day attire, we enjoyed fabulous food, live music, a thrilling live auction, and, most importantly, contributed to the Rotary Foundation. The day was a memorable celebration of community, service, and fun!

District Governor Makiko Nagasone visited the Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club in September, and it was a pleasure to welcome her. She aided us with recognizing some of our members and the presentation of certificates. We look forward to representing our district under her administration for the rest of this wonderful Rotary year.
