Ken and Elaine Chatwin, owners of Compass Cladding, not only love Carlo's home-style pasta, they also love supporting the Starfish Program. Seen here resting up for Charlie's not-so-silent auction.
Kit and Paige Moeller, of Clover Towing fame, not only support Starfish, (and great pasta) but Kit actually got up at the crack of dawn one Friday morning to personally present a cheque to the club to help keep the program going.
Thanks you four!

Pasta Party 2018 was fun, fabulously tasty and raised just over $11,000. to fund 20 backpacks.
Big-time thanks to the generous financial supporters who came through again with cheques and gifts in kind for the auction.  And to our energetic (never takes no for an answer) auctioneer Charlie Fox.

Teeth care kits for Aldergrove Starfish food packs

ACSS Student places dental kit into Starfish Backpacks

Sep. 14, 2017 1:30 p.m.
Dental hygiene packages from Dr. Vohra’s Aldergrove Family and Cosmetic Dentistry office are now being included in the Starfish Backpacks provided to Aldergrove students.

Fifty backpacks currently provide weekend food for hungry kids in three Aldergrove schools: Parkside and Shortreed elementary schools and Betty Gilbert middle school.

The Starfish program is supported by donors who provide funds and goods to the Aldergrove Rotary Club.

Aldergrove Rotarians founded it two years ago, and continue to operate and organize teams of volunteers for the Starfish Backpacks.

This program will be expanded to North Otter Elementary School this year. An additional ten Starfish Backpacks are being funded, with help from the Jazz Airline Pilots Association.

Starfish Pasta Party a Great Success
On November 28, 2015 the Aldergrove Rotary Club’s Starfish Pasta Party celebrated the generosity of local individuals and businesses who have supported the Aldergrove Starfish Backpack Program to date.  Thanks to their donations, the Aldergrove Starfish Backpack Program is able to provide food for 50 hungry kids in three local schools with weekend food for the current September-to- June school year. At the Pasta Party over 100 people paid $20.00 each for a delicious Italian meal that was generously provided and prepared by Carlo Bonetti, owner of Bonetti Meats. Along with even more individual donations, silent and live auction activities added to the evening’s proceeds (and fun). At time of writing, the total income from the pasta party is $6,000.00 and climbing.  Proceeds will be used to support hungry kids during the 2016-2017 school year. The cost to provide a Starfish Backpack full of weekend food for one child for one school year is $525.00. The Aldergrove Starfish Backpack Program has not only been continued for the 2015/2016 school year.  It has been expanded. There are 30 more backpacks than last year and one more school has been added to the program.  Now 50 backpacks are being given out every Friday.  Twenty kids at Parkside and Shortreed Elementary Schools and 10 at Betty Gilbert Middle School are not hungry on weekends now.
