What do you call people who come together every week for the expressed purpose of giving back to their community and to mankind some of the blessings they’ve received in life?
ROTARIANS!
The 55+ members of Seabrook Rotary have a marked impact on much of the Clear Lake / Bay Area. We call it Service-Above-Self. And although what we do touches just about everyone, directly or indirectly, not everyone knows about Rotary.
All Rotary Clubs have in common good people who leverage their time, talents and resources in ways that are the envy of any charity. Of the monies raised each year, 100% is targeted toward our projects and programs in four Avenues of Service: Educational & Vocational Initiatives, Community & Humanitarian Initiatives, International Initiatives and what we call New Generations.
If you like what you read we encourage you to LIKE or SHARE our posts on Facebook.
Whether you’re just a little curious or think you might be interested in joining Rotary, please accept this invitation to visit at any regularly scheduled meeting. Seabrook Rotary meets at 7am Thursday mornings at the beautiful Lakewood Yacht Club.

Scott Blackley

It's been a long journey, but it's been amazing. Today, I write my last Newsletter. I've enjoyed doing it as one of my goals as I became President was to keep our club engaged and informed of our activities, achievements, and service to the community and the world.
Today, we had our Installation, and I was presented with my Past President pin by Incoming President Scott Blackley. It was a bitter-sweet moment. While I really enjoyed being President, it was time to hand over the gavel to Scott. Not only because that is standard to do, but I had done my part during this challenging year and was ready for Scott to take over now and continue doing what we do best. SERVE.
I was inducted as President in the middle of the pandemic in June 2020. I didn't know what to expect and what challenges I would face, but I knew that this pandemic would not stop us from serving our community and the world. This was when we were needed more than ever, and it was up to me to make sure that we served wherever we were needed. We had to adapt to change. We had to wear masks and social distance. We went having our meetings via Zoom and then eventually Hybrid. We had to work hard to make sure that we got sponsors to donate even during this crisis. We had more sponsors than we have ever had. They knew that we would use their donation wisely to serve our community that desperately needed our help. We had to change where we had our Men Who Cook. We overcame every obstacle that came before us through all this change, and we got so much accomplished. I am so proud of our club for coming together to do great things for the better of humanity.
We, together as a club, did so much for our community and the world. We changed so many lives. We donated food, clothing, scholarships, aid because of natural disasters, but mostly we donated our time. We have no clue how we impacted lives, but I'm almost certain we did in a big way. I wish that there would be a crystal ball of the people's faces that we "touched" and, because of us, changed their lives.
Thank you, Everyone, for being great stewards of Rotary. Thank you for helping me change lives. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for changing my life.
Goodnight.

FROM OUR NEW COMMUNITY CHAIR-ROB HEFNER
Below are service opportunities at Exploration Green from Susan Parker.
Volunteers are needed to up-pot small and medium trees at the nursery (1801 Neptune Dr, Houston 77062) Saturday, June 26, from 8-11 AM. There's always weeding and other maintenance jobs to be completed. Please wear shoes that can get muddy, rubber boots are best, and gloves. Mosquito spray is also a good idea! Bring a refillable water bottle, and we will have water and snacks available.
If you're lucky enough to be free on Monday mornings, please join us from 8-11 AM at the nursery. Thye weed, up-pot, check trees, and have good conversation.
Mark your calendars for the 2nd & last Saturdays: July 10 & 31 for next month's workdays. Hope to see you there!!!
Kindly email Susan Parker directly at egcvol2@gmail.com if you'd like to participate. Thank you!
