The focus of the Seabrook Rotary Club is to promote prosperity through
education and initiatives that engender self-sufficiency.

Bay Elementary Grant – We made a $10,000 matching grant to the Bay Elementary PTA to fund high tech teaching aids and a literacy rescue project, resulting in a reduction of below-level readers by K grade by 68%, 1st grade by 62% and 2nd grade by 50%

Ed White Elementary – We made a $2500 grant for special iPad teaching aids. Prior to implementation, only 30% were reading above level, 20% at level and the remainder below. Subsequent to implementation 79% were reading above level, and 17% at level. The photo below is from Ms. Delagado’s Kindergarten Class, fall 2013.

Success at Work – Is a bi-annual, five-hour, 8th grade level course of instruction we produce at Seabrook Intermediate in workplace and life application skills, featuring: budgeting; job search; resume building; ethics; payroll and taxation; CIVICS; risk, and venture and working capital.

Summer Reading Program – We make a $2,500 annual grant to the Friends of Meador Library to help underwrite their summer literacy program. We also host their annual Spaghetti Dinner fund raising event at Bay Elementary.
San Jacinto College Sponsorships – Now inactive, this was a nine-year project that funded adult computer education classes at San Jacinto Colleague.

Clothes for Kids Drive – Is an annual drive to purchase clothes for school age kids from impoverished families. Kids are referred to us from Bay Elementary, a Title I School. The discount we receive from the Target store in Kemah combined with our tax-free status affords us significant buying power. We will include Ed White Elementary in 2013.

CCISD FFA – We purchase livestock each year at the Future Farmers of America (FFA students) auction. The meat is processed and donated to the Bay Area Women's Shelter. This trifecta supports the school, the students and provides help for a local charity.

CCISD Teacher of the Year – Every school in the CCISD system recognizes a stand-out Teacher of the Year. The Seabrook Rotary Club joins forces with the League City and Space Center Rotary Clubs to provide cash awards for the best of the best - those selected as District Teachers of the Year.

Eagles’ Nest – We provided seed money for this Bay Elementary after-school facility that offers tutoring, sports and other activities for youngsters who might otherwise run the streets.
