MEETING PROGRAM OCTOBER 3, 2019American Cancer Society representative Claire Sharp provides an overview of the organization. She pointed out that there is a 1 in 3 chance that you will be diagnosed with some form of cancer. In 2018 1.7 million new cancer cases were diagnosed. Since 1946 the ACS has provided $4.6 billion in research funding, second only to the U.S. government. Locally, they provide lodging and transportation to cancer patients. RYLA 2014![]() RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a leadership development program that is organized at the district level in Rotary District 6460 and facilitated by Bradley University Rotaract Club members. RYLA was held at beautiful Lake Williamson in Carlinville, IL April 11-13 this year.
Roxana High students Anna Ballard and Tanner Davis represented East Alton Rotary at RYLA this year. It was a great opportunity to develop leadership skills in a fun environment. Both are outstanding and delightful young adults. You would be very proud of them!

SCAM ALERTA new email falsely claiming to be from Rotary International President Ron D. Burton has been targeting members of Rotary. The email has the subject line “Final Reminder” and claims that the recipient has been approved for $2 million in unclaimed funds from the Rotary Club of London District Office. The email is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious. |
