American Cancer Society representative Claire Sharp provides an overview of the organization. She pointed out that there is a 1 in 3 chance that you will be diagnosed with some form of cancer. In 2018 1.7 million new cancer cases were diagnosed. Since 1946 the ACS has provided $4.6 billion in research funding, second only to the U.S. government. Locally, they provide lodging and transportation to cancer patients. In fact, their biggest need is for volunteers to provide rides to/from treatment sessions.
