DISTRICT GOVERNOR VISIT

Rotary District 6460 Governor Gordon Jumper made his annual pilgrimage to the East Alton club on September 1st. He praised the great work that the club is doing and suggested that we could do even more if we continue to grow our membership. We were reminded that the only reason Bill Gates was not a Rotarian was becase he wasn't asked. Gordon told us that we were quite close to reaching the $200 million match for the Gates Foundation grant to help eradicate polio. Through June of 2011 there were only 200 cases of polio reported worldwide.
