EAST ALTON ROTARY DEBUTS BLOG & PODCASTS!
Posted by Lori Palmer
East Alton Rotary member, Rick Hooks, has brought the East Alton Rotary Club into the 21st century in an effort to preserve our history at EastAltonRotary.Blogspot.com!
Blog? Podcasts? What in the world? Unless you have kids in the house these words MAY be foreign to you. Let's take a look at these two words and how they can be useful in Rotary. A link to the blog/podcast appears on the left hand side of the club's home page under Club Links.
Blog: "Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer ; also : the contents of such a site" is the definition given by Merriam-Webster.
Podcast: "a program (as of music or talk) made available in digital format for automatic download over the Internet" also defined by Merriam-Webster.
Blogs afford people to share their experiences, thoughts, ideas, etc. and allows others to respond with comments. Rick already has several entries and photos added to the blog. Stop by and leave your thoughts and comments!
Starting March 12th, program speakers have been recorded and uploaded to the website. Did you miss a meeting and wish you hadn't missed the speaker? Not a problem! Just go to the website and listen to the program!
Rick will be inviting members to 'reminisce' about different topics regarding the East Alton Rotary Club in an effort to record some of the club's history for future generations. This will happen after a regular club meeting every other month. Details will be coming to a meeting near you!
We hope that you will take advantage of and participate with these two new tools!
