On Friday August 7th our club's New Generations made a special delivery - member donations of school supplies to The Village Mall for the VOCM and Single Parents of NL"Block The Bus"  fundraiser.

 

Rotary Avalon Northeast members are happy to be supporting Single Parents of Newfoundland and Labrador (SPAN) and VOCM with their annual "Block The Bus" donations of school supplies. Bring your donations to the Village Shopping Centre until Friday August 7th and help ensure every child starts the school year off right! Monetary donations can be made by visiting spanl.ca.

 

At our July 15th changeover social, our new club president Ian Patey officially stepped into his new role. He already outlined an action plan for the year and club members are supportive in achieving the goals he has set. Ian, as well as the club members present, thanked outgoing President Leanne Whelan for filling the President’s position for the last year!

Last night we hosted ten rotarians from Wisconsin USA, who are visiting rotary clubs in our province as part of the Rotary Fellowship Exchange program. After a busy day touring Bell Island, they joined us for supper at Shenanigans Restaurant here in CBS. We learned about our guests and the seven Wisconsin clubs represented. Our incoming President Ian also provided a great summary of our club's work over the years.

The picture doesn't say it all... This past Saturday our club joined forces with Holy Spirit High Environment Club and Interact Club for the 3 Hour Clean up Challenge. In what was truly an amazing group effort, we were joined by MUNHOPE and Villa Nova Junior High volunteers to clean up both school grounds and Route 60. “Collaborate and celebrate!”

On June 3rd we welcomed Colin McNeil, Executive Director at The Gathering Place - a Community Health Centre committed to building community, promoting equality and providing food, clothing, housing and shelter, medical and dental help, and counselling services to vulnerable individuals in our community. Colin provided a helpful overview of the current high demand for the centre and opportunities for service groups, businesses and individuals to contribute. 

On Monday May 25th Rotarians Marliese and Lori presented the Rotary-sponsored, CBS Senior Volunteer of the Year Award to Ms. Dallas Tilley. Dallas is a dedicated community volunteer whose energy, positivity, and commitment to service have made a meaningful impact across Conception Bay South. Our club was honoured to be a sponsor of the Town of CBS 2026 Municipal Awards Gala held at the Conception Bay South Arena - celebrating the accomplishments of local volunteers, athletes, artists, and community leaders.

 

 

 

 

On May 20th our club was pleased to host Khalid Al Hariri from the Association for New Canadians as our guest speaker. He delivered an excellent presentation, explaining not only the challenges new Canadians face in regard to their new workplaces and how to integrate into a different culture, but also what we can do to include them in our communities. 

This past Friday May 8th and Saturday May 9th our club sponsored and participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program held at Memorial University with 16 students from Holy Spirit High, Gonzaga and Holy Heart of Mary Interact Clubs and foreign exchange students.  Their RYLA experience included, team building activities, leadership lessons and group discussions, and a community service clean up project to wrap up the event. The first RYLA since 2015 here in the province and hopefully the start of an annual event.

On August 5, 2014 'Big Wheels' practiced their Dragon Boating prowess in anticipation of Sunsplash with community stakeholder Avalon Dragons.

Project Managers Hedley Blundon and Rick Spracklin provided an overview of the significant progress achieved to date on the Richard Parsons Park project. 

At a news conference this week, Avalon Dragons Chair Julie Bettney announced plans for the construction of a new multi-million dollar facility at Octagon Pond, Paradise. The group has started a fundraising campaign and already has much support from the business community, various levels of government, including the Town of Paradise. Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast President, Art Squarey, announced the Club will contribute $100,000 towards the project. In addition, the Club will have several members on the project Steering Committee. Construction is anticipated to start later this year. 

 

Club members will participate in the Town of CBS Community Clean-Up on Saturday, June 7th. At 9:30am, we will meet at the Gazebo and then start to clean up the Topsail Beach Rotary Park area.. The Town of CBS andTim Hortons CBS locations will provide, shirts, gloves and garbage bags.  As well, the Town will pick up bags after the event.  Many other community groups and individuals will be particiating in this community-wide clean-up effort on Saturday.  While it is too bad we have to do these clean-ups of public areas, nonetheless, we will not let the litterbugs control areas such as Topsail Beach! Come out and do your part for our environment!!

Our Club continues to participate in the Ronald MacDonald House Meal Program. This is an on-going program at the House whereby groups, organizations, businesses, etc. prepare the Dinner Meal for guests at the House. Our Club welcomed District Governor Greg Coldwell to our regular Club meeting on August 21 at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre. Prior to the meeting, the DG met with our Board members to discuss his upcoming year and to also receive an overview of Club activities. Avalon Northeast is one of only 42 Rotary clubs to have received three significant achievement awards, worldwide. There are 8 clubs granted it for 4 times, 3 clubs for 5 times, and only 1 club was granted it for 6 times. We are the only club in District 7820 to have achieved 3 SAAs, Charlottetown has received 2.

Our Club was awarded a Special Recognition Award at the District Convention held in Halifax. This prestigious Award is presented to Rotary Clubs to recognize significant service contributions to their communities. It was the only such Award presented at District Convention this year, but marks the third time our Club has been presented for this Award. The Award recognizes the work our Club has done with its major community project, the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre, which is due to officially open in early July. Not only has the Club contributed $100,000 towards to the Project, but also hundreds of hours of volunteer time of members on various Committees. Our Club was presented with the Presidential Citation Award at this year's District Convention recently held during the May 24-26 weekend in Halifax. Mr. Fred Greening, Friends of Topsail Beach group, attended a recent Club meeting to inform members of the progress being made with the new storyboards to be placed at the Park. All three boards, depicting cultural and historical aspects of Topsail Beach area, have now been completed and will be installed by the Town of CBS. This past year, our Club provided financial support in the amount of $11,500 to "Choices for Youth" organization to initiate a "Momma Moments" pilot project for the CBS and Paradise area. Recently, Project Coordinator, Jeannie Piercey, attended our Club meeting and provided an overview of the program and its' success. Momma Moments offers various supports to young moms and their new born babies. Due to the success, their is now a wait list for future participants in the program. Ms Sandra Patterson, CEO of the local Chapter of Junior Achievement, gave Club members an overview of the JA Program and in particcular spoke about the success of the program within the school system. Many volunteers enable JA to offer a range of services and programs. Emily Rodgers, a level 3 French Immersion Honors student at Holy Spirit High School, has been chosen as our Club's recipient for the Adventure in Citizenship program.  Emily is a resident of CBS and is very active in her school and broader community. She is also current Chair of the Youth Group at the Rotary Paradise Youth Centre.  Our Club provides the funding necessary for Emily to travel to Ottawa in April to attend the Rotary sponsored Adventure in Citizenship Program. Some 200 other youth from across the country will attend. The Rotary Club of Ottawa coordinates the program and its' members host the students. Emily was a guest at our recent Club meeting and presented her essay on "What it means to be Canadian".

Dr. Greg Nederer, Dean of the MUN Engineering Department, was a recent guest speaker at our Club. Dr. Nederer gave a very interesting overview of the Department and in particular, focused on four key areas within the Department. He also spoke of some new initiatives being planned for the future. In addition, Dr. Gordon Jin, in charge of the Department's Co-op Program, noted the benefits of this program for students and the fact that MUN is a leader within the country in this area. Mayor Ralph Wiseman, Town of Paradise, was guest speaker at a recent Club meeting. Dr. John Lewis attended a recent Club meeting as guest speaker and informed members of his work with hospitals in Tanzania, Africa over the past twenty years. Dr. Lewis talked about the medical system and service deliivery in one of the hospitals in which he has a close liasion. In particular, he spoke of the need for a new artisian well at the facility and his goal, along with support from other groups and organisations, to raise sufficient funds (approximately $60,000) for the installation. Congratulations to two of our Club members who were presented their new Paul Harris Pins in recognition of their financial contributions to the RI Foundation. This was also noteworthy as November is RI Foundation Awareness Month in Rotary.  Club President Ron Smith presented Don Sword with his PH + 4 Pin and David Howe received his PH + 1 Pin.  

Guest speaker John Fisher gave a very interesting presentation to members about his experiences in rural Newfoundland. Originally from Ontario, John and his family settled in Port Rexton and have established a thriving business, Fisher's Loft Inn and Conference Centre in Trinity East. He spoke about life in rural communities and his business experiences in the Trinity area.  

Our Club recently presented two IPads to the Autism Society. Board Director Ms. Elaine Dobbin and Program Coordinator Jennifer Dyke, attended a Club meeting and spoke about the Society and its' program successes with local autistic children, and the role of IPads in their programming. On Saturday, June 2, our Club's major fundraising event was held at the Rotary Youth Paradise Centre. Once again this year, the event attracted a large number of people who enjoyed a fabulous lobster dinner.  Many interesting items were auctioned at both the Silent and Live Auction. The Club wishes to thank our Auction Committee as well as all the generous donors for their tremendous support: wine sponsorship; numerous auction items; etc.  A great time was had by all and significant funds raised to assist in our community projects!

On Monday, May 21, the Con Bay Su Girl Guides held its annual AGM and awards dinner. During the Awards presentation, the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast was presented with the " Trefoil" Award, one of the highest recognition awards offered by the Girl Guides of Canada. The award was in recognition of the Club's major financial contribution of $33,000 to assist with major renovations of the Girl Guide Camp in Seal Cove, CBS. At the regular Club meeting of May 23, Allison Stentaford of CBS, and a recent MUN graduate, was guest speaker and presented a very informative and interesting presentation about her experiences as a Student Guide at Beaumont Hamel. Allison spent several months this past summer working at the Memorial Site as a Student Guide and prior to that had spent a year of study in Nice, France. Her presentation offered any interesting photos and also outlined the role of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in the Battle at Beaumont-Hamel on July 1, 1916. Photo: Allison Stentaford

Guest speaker Philippa Gosine gave a very interesting presentation to members at a recent Club meeting about her experiences with the Ship for World Youth Program. RCMP Sgt Vicki Chalker and RNC Cst Roy Robinson, Co-Provincial Coordinators of Crime Stoppers attended a recent Cub meeting. Their presentation focused on the overall objectives and benefits of the Crime Stoppers program within our province. Our Club decided to fund a Choices for Youth "Momma Moments" pilot project in CBS.  Funding in the amount of $11,000 will assist in the implementation of this support program for young moms and their babies. Our Club's 3rd Annual Valentine's event on February 11 was a great success! Committee Chair Noelle Hookey presented a very good report to members last week and also thanked all the business sponsors who donated various items for the event. The 250+  people who attended, enjoyed a great meal plus an evening of fun and dancing. Funds raised will enable the Club to financially support various local community projects.

Recently, our Club donated $2,500.00 to the CBS Monument of Honour Project. The Monument site in CBS is nearing completion and our donation goes toward the costs of intallation of one of the new flag poles on the site. Our Club has sent out a RFP this week through local media seeking interest for a new partnership project(s). Community groups, municipalities, individuals, etc are welcome to contact us with their project idea. Applicants will complete a short application form prior to our November 30th deadline. This year's annual gala dinner and auction was a huge success! Thanks to all who attended the event, purchased tickets and participated in the silent and live auctions. Our Club would like to sincerely thank all those individuals and businesses who donated items to assist our fundraising efforts. Almost 200 tickets were sold and close to $70,000 raised to help support our community projects.

The major public launch of the new Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre was held on Tuesday, June 7, at Holy Spirit High School. This major project is a partnership between the Manuels River Natural Heritage Society and our Rotary Club plus all levels of government and the corporate sector.  A total of $4.2 million dollars in support was announced: ACOA $700,000, Provincial Government $700,000, Hibernia $1.4 million, Town of CBS $1.2 million, Avalon Northeast Rotary Club $100,000 and the MRNHS $100,000.  As well, a public fundraising campaign, whose aim is to raise an additional $2.8 million dollars, was launched.  Construction of the Centre is expected to start in this fall with completion in the fall of 2012.

 

Some Club members participated in the 3 Hour CBS Community Challenge Cleanup on Saturday morning, June 4.  Our work centered around cleanup of sections of the Rotary Topsail Beach Park - parking lot, roadway, beach and trail sections. While the Park was relatively "clean" nonetheless trash was collected and picked up by Town Recreation staff. Special Thanks to: Bill, Curtis, Bob, Noelle, Leanne, Ros, Mike, Sid, Rick and Ron who represented our Club.

Our Governor Mark Brown attended a recent Club meeting and spoke highlighting some of his experiences during his current term. He presented True Rotarian Awards to Club Charter members Bill Alcock and Bob Jenkins as well as new Club members Rhonda Caldwell and Noelle Hookey. The group attended many very interesting sessions, met many new Rotary friends and also of course enjoyed the social aspects of Montreal. Wayne Bartlett, a resident of St. John's, was presented a Paul Harris Fellow at a recent Club meeting. Wayne, was actively involved in the fundraising campaign for the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre project. Recently, CBS Mayor Woodrow French attended a regular Club meeting as guest speaker, Mayor French gave an overview of the 2013 Town Budget and highlighted several initiatives being undertaken. In addition, Mayor French acknowledged the contribution by our Rotary Club to the Town and the well-being of its' residents, including the new Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre, Parsons Memorial Park Development, and Rotary Topsail Beach Park. The first Club meeting for the new Rotary year, 2012-2013, was held on July 4th.  During the meeting, President Ron Smith presented outgoing President Dave Works with a Presidential Plaque and Past Presdient Pin in recognition of Dave's leadership and contribution to the Club during the past year. Allison Power and Allison Stamp, two members of the 2012 GSE Taiwan group attended one of our recent Club meetings. They gave a very informative presentation outlining many of the very interesting experiences they encountered during their month long visit to Taiwan. Both Allisons, from the St. John's area, were part of our Rotary District Group Study exchange team that recently returned from Taiwan. 

Our Club donated funds to assist in the purchase and installation of one of the new flag poles at the CBS Monument of Honour. The plaque, in recognition of our support, was unvieled during the November 11, 2011, Remembrance Day ceremony.

On November 3, Mr. Gilbert Bennett,  VP Lower Churchill Project, Nalcor, visted our Club as guest speaker. Mr. Gilbert discussed various aspects of the project and told members about the progress of the Muskrat Falls development. Recently, Mr. Frank Kennedy and his wife Tessie gave an interesting update on the progress of the LIteracy Project they both coordinate through their Rotary Club in the Philippines. Over the past few years,our Club members have assisted in the collection and shipping of used childrens' books as part of this Project. Our Cub will send another shipment in the next couple of weeks. RNC Constable Kevin Foley attended our meeting of March 9 and spoke about his involvement in the DARE Program. This educational program on tobacco, susbstance and alcohol abuse, is geared to Grade 6 students. Since 2002, our Club has offered financial support for the DARE Prorgam in CBS and Paradise schools. Scott Andrews, MP Avalon, was guest speaker at our regular Club meeting of January 12. Mr. Andrews presented an overview of his political career which included the recent adoption of his first private's member bill.This legistation was introcdued in the House of Commons as result of the tragic murder of young Zachary Turner while in the care of his mother who, at the time, was on bail. Our Club entered a float again this year in the annual Santa Claus Parades in CBS and Paradise. Thanks to Bill Alcock, Trevor Atkin and other Float Committee members for designing and creating the Humpty-Dumpty theme float.

Our Club will host its' second annual Valentine Dance at the Rotary Paradise Youth Center on Saturday February 5th 8:30pm - 1:00am. Bar service. Live entertainment provided by local Band 709. Food will be provided. Tickets are $50 single and are available from any Club member.

Holy Spirit student Jamie Warren is the recipient of the 2010 Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast scholarship. Jamie graduated in June 2010 and is currenlty enrolled at MUN. The scholarship, valued at $1500, was presented by Club member Noel Andrews during the Annual Awards Night at the Holy Spirit High School.

On October 13, Senator Beth Marshall attended our regular Club meeting. Ms Marshall spoke to members about her role as a Senator representing the province and our region. She also expressed her interest and support for the Manuels River project of which our CLuib is a joint partner with the Manuels River Natural Heritage SOciety and the Town of CBS. On a cold July 7th evening at Rotary Topsail Beach Park, President Randy Dawe presents Past President Rick Spracklin with a commemorative plaque and gavel to recognize Rick's contribution this past year. Villanova Junior High in CBS and St. Peter's Junior High in Mount Pearl recently made significant donations of used books for our literacy project. 50-60 boxes were picked up recently at the schools by Club Project Coordinator Mike Siscoe and member Ron Smith.

At a special dinner meeting on May 26, two Club members, Doug Russell and Reg Lawrence received the distinction of being named Paul Harris Fellows. Both Doug and Reg have been long-time members with the Club and have been very active in their Club events and local community projects. At our May 19 regular Club meeting, Guest Speaker Denise McGrath gave a very informative and touching presentation of her recent humanitarian excursion to Haiti. Denise, a local pharmacist, was part of a four member volunteer medical team of Newfoundlanders that spend several days in Haiti providing medical attention and support to Haitians following the devasting earthquake. Her slide presentation provided a glimpse into the tremendous work the team completed under very difficult circumstances.

The Rotary CLub of Avalon Northeast held its' annual fundraising event on Saturday, June 5th, at the Rotary Paradise Youth & Community Center. With 225 people attending, it marked the largest dinner and auction for the Club. Thanks to the generous donations of individuals and local businesses, almost $45,000 was raised this year. Our Club members sincerely thanks those donors and all those who attended and helped make the event a great success!

At this week's Club meeting, Mr. Buy Badcock, board member on the Peter Barry Duff Park Commission, gave an update on their plans to develop an educational facility at the Park. He gave a brief history of the Park and progress to date in the Park's development. He indicated the main focus now is on building an educational facilty with washrooms to help facilitate visits by school and community groups. Mr. Badcock also requested the assistance of Rotary members in planning for the facility as well as possible financial assistance by the Club.

On Wednesday, April 28, newly elected MHA Paul Davis, Topsail District, attended our regular meeting as guest speaker. Mr. Davis spoke about his recent election victory and his new role as an MHA serving the Topsail District. Parts of both Conception Bay South and Paradise fall witin his district. Mr. Davis had a long career in the RNC and prior to election served as Media Relations person for the force.

On Wednesday, April 14, at our regular Club meeting, Chief Justice Derek Green attended as the guest speaker. He gave a very informative and interesting presentation on the topic: "Judging in the Community". Drawing from his experience as the Chief Justice for the province and many years in the justice system, Chief Justice Green spoke in general of the justice system and its' roles and responsibilities within our communities.

Rotaract President Emily Thompson and Vice-President Nathan Barnes attended our Club meeting on March 24 as guest speakers. They provided an excellent overview of the newly formed MUN Club, its' activities/projects and future plans. The MUN Club has been quite active this past year and has attracted a good membership base amongst students. The Club meets regularly on Thursday evenings at the MUN Campus.

Recently the Mayor of Paradise, Ralph Wiseman, visited our club as guest speaker. He spoke of the 2010 Town Budget; the impact of property taxes, both residential and commercial; the amount of new home construction; and,the town land offered for development. The Mayor spoke of facilities that Paradise residents can hopefully expect to see in the near future. These include: a new arena and a swimming pool. As well, the Town hopes to add extra lanes on Route 60 from Trails End to St. Thomas Line and a change at the off ramps near the Kenmount Rd Overpass. He also noted the positive impact of the 2 new schools under construction and scheduled to open September 2010.

Mr. Jason Sinyard, Manager of the Waste Management Division, City of St. John's, presented a very interesting overview of the new Waste Management Plan for the Avalon region. The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility has seen a $56 million dollar investemtn over the past couple of years, making it a modern, environmentally-sound facility serving the eastern region of the province. Club members were able to ask many questions regarding the operation of the facility and its' positive environmental impact on the province.

Thanks to the generosity of Club members, approximately $7,400 has been collected to purchase Shelterboxes for the Haitian Relief effort. In addition, the Town of Conception Bay South and the Town of Paradise each donated $1,000 to the Club to assist in the project. The Govt of Canada will match these funds donated bringing the total to $18,800. Rotarians throughout Canada and internationally are engaged in this project and have send thousands of Shelterboxes to Haiti. The recent Valentine's Dance Social event held at the Rotary Paradise Youth Center was a great success! Committee Chair David Works says that about 225 tickets were sold, the food was delicious and the Band 709 was well received by those in attendance. The Club hopes to make this an annual event. Almost $6,000 was raised which will assist the Club in it's upcoming projects. Thanks to the Organizing Committee for a job well done!

In the Christmas spirit, to assist in a project by our Interact Club, Rotarian members are asked to consider a monetary donation to the "Students Helping Students" project. Gift Certificates and Grocery Vouchers are given to needy students and their families for Christmas. Club Rotarian Regina McCarthy will collect donations over the next couple of regular meetings. The Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast recently presented a Paul Harris Fellowship to Past President Tim Bell. Tim has been a Rotarian since 1999 and has been quite active within the Club. He has served on numerous Committees, the Board, Executive and as President of the Club in 2007-08 a year in which Tim served not only as President but as his own Club Secretary as well. Tim has been a notable contributor as a driving member of the Club's Annual Lobster Dinner and Auction Committee. In 2008, Tim helped to establish the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast's Charitable Foundation and served as its first Chair. Tim was a significant supporter and player of the Club's Significant Achievement Award Project, the Rotary Paradise Youth Center, and was Club President during the Official Opening of the Center in June of 2008. On Wednesday October 21st 2009 approximately 100 Rotarians from the five St. John's area Rotary Clubs held a joint meeting at the Glendenning Golf Club in honour of the visit of the 2009-10 Rotary District Governor, David Muise, from the Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club. At that time, District Governor Muise presented the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast with a "Significant Achievement Award" in recognition of the Club's efforts to establish the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre. Rotary Club Past President Kathryn Atkin assisted Mr Muise in presenting the award by providing a history of the project. The Significant Achievement Award is rarely awarded by Rotary International and yet this was the second time our Club has won this award (1st - Topsail Beach Rotary Park ). Rotarian Tim Bell accepted the Award as the Centre held its grand opening during his term as President. District Governor Muise surprised Tim Bell by recognizing his significant role in the success of his Club's various projects, including the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre, by naming him a Paul Harris Fellow. Current Avalon Northeast Rotary Club President Rick Spracklin gave a presentation on the Club's activities and he noted our current work with Manuels River Natural Heritage Society to construct a new Visitor's Centre for the Manuels River Linear Park. District Governor Muise also formally inducted Rosalind Squires as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast. Unfortunately, Past President Dave Howe was unable to attend the meeting as he was announced as the Club's recipient of the "True Rotarian" Award. Our Rotary exchange student, Kendra Power, gave a wonderful presentation to club members about her experiences in Spain this past year. It was evident that she had a great cultural and educational experience. Kendra made many friends and was warmly accepted by her host family. Our newest member, Reggie Lawrence, was officially inducted into the Club on Spetember 16. He was sponsored by his father, Reg Lawrence. Presiding over the ceremonoy was Kathryn Atkin. Members of our Club gathered at the residence of Rotarian Bill Alcock for a special meeting on Wednesday evening September 2. While regular business was presented by President Rick, the evening generally was a successful fundraising event for the Canaadian Diabetes Association as part of a special project by club members Jerry Young and Bob Jenkins. Over $500 was raised. Members enjoyed time around the pool, a BBQ of moose burgers prepared by Chef Bob Jenkins, and sang along to favorite tunes accompanied by the guitar playing of Scott Parsons, Reggie Lawrence and Ron Smith.

In late August, a group of Rotarians from our Club and their spouses visited the historic town of Brigus for a dinner theatre show "The Royal Shag Up". This was a fun-filled evening for all participants. Special thanks to Rotarian Kathryn Atkins for organizing the outing as well as Rotarian Scott Parsons whose company, Parsons Transportation, provided a coach for travel to Brigus. Our Club's annual Family BBQ was well-attended this year as many members and their families participated in this fun-filled evening. Topsail Beach Rotary Park, located in Conception Bay South, is one of the most popular outdoor parks and beaches in eastern Newfoundland. One of the highlights at the event saw Past President Doug Russell offer thanks to his Executive and Board members. Current President Rick Sprackilin presented Doug with a plaque in appreciation of his work and commitment to Rotary during the past year.

On July 15, Dr. Riccardo Levi-Setto and his wife attended our regular Club meeting. Riccardo is a leading world expert in trilobite fossils and was visiting Club member Don Sword and his wife Pat. Riccardo spoke to the Club about his involvement with the Manuels River Natural Heritage Society and its' work in promoting and protecting its' world famous trilobite fossil beds. The construction of a new multi-million dollar Interpretation Centre is a new joint project betwen our Club and the Manuels River Natural Heritage Society.
