RI President for 2028-2029 Announced

Rotary International has selected Bharat Pandya of the Rotary Club of Borivli, Mumbai, India, to serve as RI President for 2028-29.

His selection places India back in the spotlight of Rotary’s global leadership and adds another name to the leadership succession already being prepared several years ahead.

So, who is Bharat Pandya, when does he officially become President-Nominee, and where does he fit in Rotary’s leadership succession?

Thirty-eight years ago, 22 members received the Charter of the Rotary Club of Kampala North.

But our story did not begin with those 22 members alone.

Behind the scenes was another Rotary club — guiding the process, chairing our first provisional meeting and eventually sponsoring Kampala North into the Rotary family.

The District Governor’s Official Visit: What Every Rotarian Should Know

Every Rotary club receives one official visit from the District Governor during each Rotary year. While many members look forward to the occasion as an important event on the club calendar, not everyone fully understands its purpose.

The visit is an opportunity for the District leadership and the club to discuss achievements, challenges, annual goals and future direction. It also allows members to receive guidance, celebrate progress and strengthen their commitment to Rotary service.

The District Governor’s Official Visit is not an inspection. It is a partnership meeting aimed at helping clubs create lasting impact.

Heavy Metals in the Air You Breathe — And What Actually Helps

It sounds a little alarming at first, but it is really simple chemistry: the dust floating around our urban environments carries far more than ordinary dirt. It can also contain tiny, invisible particles known as heavy metals.

What Exactly Are Heavy Metals? Heavy metals are naturally occurring metallic elements such as lead, cadmium and mercury. Because they do not easily break down or disappear, they can remain in the environment and gradually accumulate in living organisms when inhaled or swallowed.

Strategic Plan Review — One Year On

A ClubRunner Bulletin story on the first annual review of the Rotary Club of Kampala North’s five-year rolling Strategic Plan.

In 2025, the Rotary Club of Kampala North adopted a five-year rolling Strategic Plan to guide the Club’s priorities, strengthen effectiveness, and enhance its contribution to the communities it serves. The plan provides a structured framework for advancing service, strengthening membership, enhancing public image, and improving governance through to 2030.

As part of sound governance and accountability, the Club conducts an annual review of progress toward the achievement of the plan’s objectives. This year’s review will take place on 21 March 2026, marking one year since implementation commenced.

Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo recently completed a busy three-day visit to Uganda from February 20 to 22. This visit was a special opportunity to highlight the good news of our humanitarian work across the country, focusing on health, peace, and supporting our local youth leaders.

Hosted by Districts 9213 and 9214, the visit allowed President Arezzo to see firsthand how our members are putting "Service Above Self" into action. From meeting with government leaders to visiting project sites, the focus remained on the meaningful impact we can create when we work together.

This successful visit is a collective "thank you" to all the members and leadership teams who worked hard to showcase our projects. It is a reminder of the good we do when we focus on building a better future for everyone.
