Success Story

Over a period of time Julie Tebbutt and Betty White conducted BBQ’s etc to raise funds for the ‘Riding for the Disabled Association’ for the purchase of a ‘Carriage’

Carriage Driving is open to all members of RDA and is particularly useful for people who can no longer ride due to disability or prefer a different kind of challenge.

Carriage Driving gives those who are unable to mount a horse the opportunity to experience the fun and enjoyment of equestrian activities.

All RDA Driving sessions are conducted under the supervision of a Nationally accredited Whip.

Carriage Driving allows participants a feeling of independence which can increase their levels of self-esteem and confidence and offers:

Monday 25^th Nov.  an amount of $1700 was passed on the RDA group at Baldivis.

Sydney Fricker and Jasmine Angelesy were the two contestants in Monday's final

Sydney Fricker is a Year 10 student from Hamilton Senior High School.

Sydney is a confident young lady who has proved herself to be a skilled speaker and

outstanding school leader throughout her 3 years at the school. Sydney is a talented musician, an Emergency Services Cadet

and a highly academic, hard working student.

This year Sydney was also fortunate to be a member of the prestigious Sir Charles Court Leadership Program and most recently was an active participant in the Kwinana Industries Council - Education Partnership i Women Forum.

 

Our second speaker is Jasmine Angelesy (supported by the Rotary Club of Rockingham). ‘Jasmine attends Comet Bay College and is currently undertaking year 12.

When she finishes school she would like an adventurous life having fun. Jasmine would like to attend university at some stage and study either Architecture, Psychology or teaching. In her spare time Jasmine enjoys netball, skateboarding, dancing and cooking delicious food to eat with her friends and family.’

 PP Genevieve Carr and PE James Sharkey were present at St Vincents Primary School on Monday 24th September to present SwimMarathon certificates to a number of students' parents and staff who completed the criteria required for the SwimMarathon event held earlier this year.

 

Kwinana Adventure Playground is an ambitious Community Project initiated by the Rotary Club of Kwinana.

The Rotary Club of Kwinana has had a BBQ trailer since the the early 90s however in June 2008 we acquired our caravan, after some cosmetic work we set sail on our BBQ van project.
Our van is at the Spud Shed Baldivis every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. We are also available to conduct BBQ's on any day midweek as required. We provide BBQ services to our local City council. We also lend out our BBQ trailer to other community groups interested in earning some funds. We are kept pretty busy throughout the year with Australia Day and Anzac Day being our biggest events. It is the enthusiastic efforts of club members that keep our project ticking over. Most members are rostered on our Sunday Spud Shed commitment at the Spud Shed.
At present this project is our primary fund raiser.







     

RYDA is designed for senior high school students as they begin to drive or ride as passengers in cars driven by their peers, held at the Kwinana Motorplex

Apex Park originally built years ago by Kwinana Apex, was renovated in 2006 by the Rotary Club of Kwinana by removing the dangerous wooden pergola and replacing with a metal color-bond structure, wooden tables and seats, and a gas BBQ were also added.




Above is the original wooden pergola which was removed and a new metal shade built.  

      

The Rotary Club of Kwinana annually provides a cooked breakfast for over 600 people on Anzac Day after the Dawn Service.

The Rotary Club of Kwinana annually provides a full cooked breakfast for some 500 guests of the City of Kwinana on Australia Day morning.
