Hudson Valley Clubhouse and CAPEOur club donated $1,000 to the Hudson Valley Clubhouse and $250 to Council on Addiction Prevention and Education - CAPE Generation Hope Youth Clubhouse. In addition, we provided much-needed period products and hygiene items to help meet the essential needs of local teens and young adults. Town of Wappinger Gateway SignsClub President Todd Bowen and the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls are proud to announce that we’ve officially adopted two Town of Wappinger Gateway signs, welcoming residents and visitors into our beautiful town! The signs are located on RT 9 northbound (from Fishkill into Wappinger) and RT 9 southbound (from Poughkeepsie into Wappinger) - two major entry points into our community. Both sites now feature freshly painted signage, new Rotary Club emblems, and a touch of landscaping with mulch to brighten up the entrances. A big thank you to Town Supervisor Joseph D. Scholarship Dinner 2025The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls is proud to announce that we awarded a total of $11,000 in scholarships to exceptional Roy C. Ketcham High School students at our annual scholarship ceremony! This special evening was filled with inspiration, pride, and hope for the future as we recognized the hard work, dedication, and service of these young leaders. The awards included: • $8,000 in Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls Scholarships to students who demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to community service. • $2,000 in scholarships given in memory of our beloved Rotarian Carmen “Tony” Angelone. • $1,000 Stan & Maureen Straub Scholarship. This year’s scholarship recipients are: Yousef Abdelhakim, Mayeesha Alvi, Lucy Coogan, Marcos Cordova, John Harkins, Taylor Langevin, Emily Paino, Emily Zhang and Sophie Zhang. These scholarships are a reflection of Rotary’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and empowering the next generation. Town of Wappinger War Memorial ImprovmentsPosted by the Town: The Town of Wappinger is proud to announce a landmark partnership with the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls, marking the first collaboration between the two organizations in over 30 years! At the heart of this collaboration is the long-overdue renovation of the Town of Wappinger War Memorial, located at Brexel-Schlathaus Park. The memorial, a solemn tribute to the Town’s brave veterans who served and sacrificed in defense of our nation, will undergo its first major capital improvements in over three decades. Planned improvements include the removal of the deteriorating and sinking patio base, installation of a modern drainage system, re-leveling of the area, and the placement of new landscape patio bricks to ensure long-term durability and aesthetic appeal. This restoration project is funded in part by the Town of Wappinger War Memorial Trust, established by Bill and Helen Parsons to preserve the integrity and dignity of the memorial site. More information about this project will be released in the coming weeks, including additional Park enhancements for veterans as well as opportunities for community engagement and involvement! December Students of the MonthThe Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls recognized the December Students of the Month. Austin Deler, from Roy C. Ketcham High School, Kyle Marquez from Wappingers Junior High School, Ariana Eglit from Evans Elementary School, Mac Liso from Myers Cornes Elementary and Laila Goble from Sheafe Road Elementary. We also recognized the Myers Corners Elementary School October Student of the Month Alex Barron. Each student received a certificate of recognition and a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble from the Rotary Club, a gift certificate from Longobardi's and a certificate from the Town of Wappinger and Village of Wappingers Falls. Veterans Project Part 2This week, Tommy Zurhellen representing Hudson River Housing picked up the sweatshirts and sweatpants we purchased for 20 Veterans at Liberty Station in Poughkeepsie. Supporting our veterans is a cause close to our hearts, and we are proud to make a difference in their lives. Thank you, Tommy, for your partnership in this meaningful initiative! Adopt a FamilyThis year, the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls is thrilled to spread the spirit of giving by adopting 9 families in the Wappingers Central School District for the holidays! With three families each from Evans, Sheafe, and Myers Corners Elementary Schools, our Rotarians came together to shop for essential food items. Each Rotarian in the club also purchased a gift or gift card for the children in these families. We’re proud to serve our community and brighten the season for those in need. A big thank you to all our members for their generosity and commitment to making a difference. ![]() |
Veterans ProjectToday, Rotarians Todd Bowen, Bill Halvey and Jessica Miuccio visited Old Navy to shop for 20 sweatshirts and 20 sweatpants for Veterans at Liberty Station in Poughkeepsie. Liberty Station offers Housing and Care Management for Veterans in the company of other veterans. A heartfelt thank you to Old Navy Store Manager Jay and Assistant General Manager Mary for their incredible assistance and support of our initiative. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the kind customer who generously purchased a sweatshirt to donate to our project. Your thoughtfulness makes a real difference!
