Thank you to our guest speakers, Lila Meade and Andrew Meade, Co-Founders of The Haiti Project, Inc., for joining us and sharing an update on the incredible work being done in Haiti!
The Haiti Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of New York, working collaboratively with Vassar College and community students to support healthcare, education, and opportunities for communities in Haiti.
We were also pleased to hear from Grace, Vassar College student involved with the project, who shared a firsthand perspective on this meaningful work.
Healthcare Access
The clinic continues to provide free healthcare and medications to patients from 47 villages. Construction of the Solar Lab remains paused because of gang activity and unsafe roads, but the laboratory equipment is ready to be transported to Fiervil when conditions allow.
Education
L’École St. Paul continues to provide education from nursery through sixth grade and has provided breakfast and lunch to children for the past 25 years. Adult education is also expected to resume this year thanks to recent donor support.
Trade School Scholarships
The new Trade School Scholarship Program has already made a tremendous impact. Funding has been secured for 47 scholarships, with 61 students currently enrolled. The program provides young people with opportunities to pursue careers in the trades and build brighter futures.
Despite tremendous challenges, The Haiti Project continues to demonstrate the power of education, healthcare, partnership, and Service Above Self.
Thank you, Lila, Andrew, and our Vassar student for sharing your experiences with us!
