District Council event to ofcially open Stephen Street paving and to unveil the Embrace Kids Artwork. We are to provide free donuts for an anticipated crowd of 300 to 400 people. Event will run from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, with the road closed from 2pm.

This is a District Council organised training event run by SAPOL, put on at our request for members who have not yt had the opportunity to undertake one previously, but is open to all community members. Register with the Council as per the attached information tif.

For our fifth Monday in March we will enjoy some Japanese food together at Sushi Hiro, in the upper level of the Mount Barker Central Shopping Centre.  You'll find it at the western end of the carpark you enter from Druids Lane.  You can see the menu here:  Sushi Hiro | Menu

The restaurant does not take bookings, but your registration is important so that Chris can get there early to organise tables for us.

Supporting a District Council Community Youth event at the Hahndorf Academy by providing both sausages and donuts for up to 250 children.

Council Organised Event - we are supplying cooking sausages service for an estimated 300 to 400 people.

Banjo Bubner is a student at the Waldorf School in Mount Barker.  He will be telling us about his experience at the 2026 National Youth Science Forum in Brisbane, for which our Club was his sponsor.

Bring family and friends to enjoy lunch at the new Monarto Safari Park resort restaurant on Sunday 31 May.

There will be a two course lunch for $49 each, with drinks purchased from the bar.  The menu is:

After lunch there is the option of $47 entry to the park for adults (normally $54) or $40 concession.  This includes the ZU-loop shuttle bus with volunteer guides on board and at each stop.

PAYMEMT for the meal in advance to the Treasurer.  Payment for the tour on the day to the park.

Hannah Clements in the Ageda Car Volunteer Visitors Scheme Program Coordinator for Mount Barker District Council.  In her talk she will provide:

1. An overview of support services Council provides to elderly members of the community
2. An overview of volunteering opportunities at Council for members interested in giving their time to help elderly members of the community

Dr Simpson wil be talking to us about eye surgery and in particular the problems with cataracts.  He has been working as an Ophthalmologist for 13 years. He completed his medical school training in the UK in 2006 and trained full-time as an Ophthalmologist from 2008 to 2017. During this time, he gained experience in the wide range of Ophthalmology subspecialties. He also took 2 years out to perform research on complex retinal and macular diseases, and has published several papers and book chapters on these topics. In 2017, he moved to South Australia to complete a second fellowship year in vitreoretinal surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.  He consults in the Ade;aide Hills and performs surgery at Hills hospitals.

Kerre Willsher is from the Rotary Club of Whyalla and is the Central Region Australian Rotarians Against Malaria Representative (ARAM/RAWCS).   According to the World Health Organization Malaria Report over 600,000 people died of malaria in 2024. 70% of deaths are pregnant women and children under five years of age. Drug and insecticide resistance have become major problems. On the other hand, there have been major developments such as new medications and vaccines. ARAM' S role is to promote the prevention and treatment.
