Computing Solutions
Oct. 02, 2014
There has been a lot of talk about the "CLOUD" for saving your files. Rahim will be discussing some of the preconceived myths about solutions like Drop Box and Sky Drive and how unsecure they may be. Rahim will also be showing us a LIVE demo of Canada's Only Secure File Synching Solution. This will be a great meeting to bring a past, present or future client or supplier.
Al Warren left the computer industry in 1986 thinking there wouldn't be a lasting future in computing (who knew). He started a cellular phone company in July of 1986 with the goal of selling 30 cell phones a year. As time went on, the computer and cell phone industry almost became synonymous with each other because of the introduction of smart phones. This brought Al into the mobile app side of the industry as he began providing smart phones to his clients.
Rahim joined DSM upon his graduation from University of Toronto where he received his Bachelors of Applied Science and Engineering. Initially hired as a Junior Technician in May 2000, he has worked through the ranks taking on various roles outside the technical environment in handling pre-sales support and assessments, project management, and customer escalations from a technical and non-technical stand point. Rahim currently is the Director of Operations and Information Technology at DSM, handling all the day to day running of the business, as well as implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that clients are being supported effectively.

The 3rd Age
Feb. 05, 2015
Bob has been "retired" for a few years but only recently recognized that he's a 3rd Age Member. The 3rd Age is the period of our lives when we face the least constraints. We're (largely) free to do as we will but what should we do? Rotarians recognize full well the value of contributing to community, but why is it so important for 3rd Age members and for society? Bob's answer to that question revolves around our nature as social animals - we're defined by our communities (as well as our genes). Contributing to the well-being of valued communities resonates deep, inner human need. It is also socially critical - we need more people who put well-being ahead of wealth. 3rd Age members are positioned to do just that. |
