Steve Teshara is a respected leader in Tahoe-region policy and planning, known for his effective and creative work in legislative advancement, community revitalization, workforce housing, and regional mobility.

He has served on numerous Tahoe-focused boards and currently serves as Director of Government Relations for the Tahoe Chamber, while also advising the leadership of the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team. Steve brings a practical, big-picture perspective on how policy, collaboration, and community action intersect to shape Tahoe’s future.

Steve will talk to the club about ongoing and emerging issues of public policy importance in Tahoe.

Come hear Dr. Will Richardson, Founder and Executive Director of the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS) talk about natural science and birds in the Tahoe Basin. 

The Tahoe Institute for Natural Science is a member-supported nonprofit organization advancing the natural history, conservation, and ecosystem knowledge of the Tahoe region through science, education, and outreach.

This month our Thursday Evening Gathering will be held at the South Lake Tahoe Airport restaurant Flight Deck Grill and Golf Club, which has been a welcome addition to the area. American grill classics, craft cocktails, and indoor golf simulators beside the runway. We'll hear the restaurant from the restaurant general manager and the airport from airport personnel.

Come have fellowship, drinks, good food, and runway lights on our evening together.  The restaurant has donated a T-time which can accomodate up to 8 participants; participants will need to sign waivers.

Mark Jackson, District Attorney for Douglas County, will talk about the DA's office, its challenges and successes, community safety, local crime trends, and the prosecutorial processes to educate and build partnerships within the community. He has served on numerous statewide commisions and task forces, and has served as an instructor or presenter on a variety of topics such as Search Warrant Law and Search and Seizure Laws and Issues Affecting Limited Jurisdiction Courts, Legal Aspects of Drug Task Force Investigations, and Innovative Ways to Address Underage Drinking.

Howie Nave is stand-up comedian, radio personality, writer, and movie critic. Before going on the road full-time, Nave opened for such acts as Howie Mandel, The Smothers Brothers, "Weird Al" Yankovic and Neil Diamond. Howie has performed for such venerable venues as the Punchline, Laughs Unlimited, and The Laugh Factory. You don't want to miss this program. 

 

Kicking off Rotary's 2026-2027 year with a high spirited, inspiring and meaningful first club meeting of the 2026-2027 Rotary Year at the Rotary Club of Tahoe Douglas. Lunch at Bally's Lake Tahoe Casino in Stateline (55 US-50, Stateline, NV 89449).

Park in the parking structure and bring your parking ticket in to be validated after the meeting. Look for the Rotary sign on the right side of the casino and follow the hallway up to the meeting room. Meeting will start at 12 p.m. noon, sharp and conclude at 1:30 p.m.
