We invite you to explore the natural beauty of our region with a diverse array of hikes and bike rides tailored to your interests.  Immerse yourself in California’s globally unique chaparral ecosystem, challenge yourself on a fitness hike, or embark on educational journeys through cultural and historical hikes. Delve into the captivating world of flora and fauna or simply pedal your way through picturesque landscapes. For those seeking pedal-powered thrills, our scenic bike rides offer a thrilling spin through picturesque landscapes. Join us for an unforgettable celebration of the great outdoors and commemorating a legacy of conservation, surrounded by the stunning vistas of San Diego’s wilderness.

There is no cost to join us on a hike, bike ride or activity, registration in advance is required.

Marge Cole grew up in the Los Angeles area. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and later earned a master’s degree at Syracuse University in New York. While serving as principal of West High School, she joined the Santee/Lakeside Rotary Club in District 5340 in 1996 and was President of the Club in 2002-03. Marge has held a number of positions at the Club, District, and Zone level including: District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair (2004-2007 & 2019-2022), District Governor (2009-10), Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (RRFC) for Zone 26--2016—2019, Endowments/Major Gifts Advisor for Zone 26 (2023-2026) and many more.

She is currently Advisor for the City Heights Rotaract Club and is a member of Mission Valley Evening Rotary Club. She is a member of the Paul Harris Society, a Major Donor, Bequest/Legacy Society member. She has received the Certificate for Meritorious Service and the Service Above Self Award from Rotary International. Marge serves on the Board of the Kensington-Talmadge Community Association and is a Docent for the Old Globe Theater in San Diego.  She enjoys golf, travel, theater, and all things Rotary.

Microplastics and nanoplastics have infiltrated every corner of the environment, as well as the human body. Science journalist and author Matt Simon talks about his recent book, A Poison Like No Other: How Microplastics Corrupted Our Planet and Our Bodies, covering the ecological, climate, and human health impacts of this dangerous pollutant.

Dr. Adrienne Fusek is the Executive Director and Founder of IGC - In Good Company, a San Diego based nonprofit focused on delivering accessible climate education for the purpose of driving justice-centered action.  Prior to founding IGC, Adrienne worked in the international education sector developing international experiences for university faculty and students.  In addition to managing IGC, Adrienne continues to teach environmental science and sustainability at San Diego State University.

Presentation Summary
Exploitation of people and the planet are inextricably linked.  It is now undeniable that maintaining our planet’s life support systems requires each of us to leverage our unique skills, expertise, and influence to unravel and repair these dire problems.  IGC’s work focuses on providing foundational climate justice education to transform climate curiosity/anxiety/despair into a critical mass of engaged people pushing for ambitious change across all sectors.
