City of Duncanville Public Works
Feb. 23, 2016
Do you ever wonder what the Public Works department actually does? Did you know that not every city has a Public Works department? The people in this city government department do a lot, probably more than you imagined. Come learn about Public Works and meet the man who runs this operation for our City of Champions - Mike J. Hasler, P.E. The P.E. after Mike's name is not for physical education, but rather means he is a licensed Professional Engineer. Although he probably does get a lot of exercise overseeing the ten divisions under Public Works. Mike is a homegrown engineer, graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelors and Masters in Engineering. For thirteen years, he served as Director of Public Works for the City of Arlington, where he provided the vision for the Three Bridges megaproject - a three mile transformation of the IH-30 corridor that now bridges Cowboys Stadium, Texas Rangers Ballpark, Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor, and the Arlington Convention Center. Mike also managed Glorypark, one of the largest, most complex mixed-use developments surrounding the Ranger Ballpark. He has served as project manager for the City of Fort Worth and other private companies. Please join us Tuesday to welcome Mike Hasler! |

Imagine walking through King Tut's tomb without even being there. Or actually seeing a heart beating from a pair of glasses. It's not the future. It's real and happening with virtual and augmented reality right here in North Texas. EON Reality, a global company with businesses in California, Missouri, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, decided to set its first Texas roots in Duncanville. Its footprints leave an impressive resume of product development in virtual and augmented reality around the world. The partnership with the city of Duncanville led to the creation of the EON Reality Entrepreneur School. Duncanville's old public library was repurposed by city leaders and transformed into a world that speaks, smells, and breaths "future". The school turns out 20 students a year who create content, programming, and art for virtual and augmented reality platforms. The idea is train and educate a digital content workforce in VR and AR and ultimately improve knowledge transfer. The EON Duncanville Entrepreneur School focuses on industries in education, energy, transportation, sports, and medicine. Several NFL teams including the Dallas Cowboys use EON Reality VR and AR football simulator software in training camps. The Rotary Club of Duncanville hosts this EON Reality Open House. Join us for this very special, behind-the-scenes glimpse into this amazing technology.
