We have recently formed a new "Connections Committee, the purpose of which is to strengthen the heart of the Club by reaching out to members in times of need, to encourage fellowship and engagement and to connect with new members supporting their transition into Rotary.
At our January 23 meeting, we inducted new Corporate members. We are thrilled to include the Calgary Library Foundation as one of our corporate members. Welcome all three (3) members: Tracy Johnson, Alexandra Runge and Tamara Smith.

Rotary Helps YYC

February 2024 marks one year since 8 of the 13 Calgary Rotary Clubs launched Rotary Helps YYC. This was a response to a community request to create a “one window” approach for Rotary support.
On January 29, 2024 the Food Collaborative YYC held its quarterly meeting. Rotary is a member of the collaborative. Franco Savoia and Bill Quinney from the West Club participated in the meeting.

The Rotary Club of Calgary has been approved for a booth in the House of Friendship at the 2024 Rotary convention in Singapore. An application through the World Community Service committee will allow us to highlight our activities (local and global) May 25- 29 (noon), 2024. Anyone wishing to contribute to the content (whether or not you are going to Singapore) is encouraged to contact doug.mcmillan@dal.ca by February 24, 2024.

Our club’s first experience with the Big Book Sale resulted in a massive success. After providing all the Calgary Reads Seed Partners with their grants and providing two (2) Rotary clubs with funds to support their ECL Charity of choice, there was still money left over. The ECL committee is pleased to present this update to demonstrate where the impact of the Big Book Sale will be experienced. Enjoy the read. I don’t know about you but my inbox fills up constantly and I have a hard time keeping up some days. Once a month THAT email from Rotary International shows up telling me the monthly magazine is ready to read and, even though I have all the best intentions, I never quite seem to get to it.
Here’s what I discovered lately that will completely change how I read the magazine.
It’s call Creating a Bookmark, (it may be called Favorite or Shortcut in your internet browser) and to where? To Rotary.org/magazine.
Why does this work well? First of all, you don’t have to dig through all those emails to find the one from RI but most importantly, that site displays the information contained in the magazine in a more easily scannable format.
So create your bookmark (or favourite or shortcut) to ROTARY.ORG/MAGAZINE and connect with awesome stories and information specifically for Rotarians.
