Playworks
Oct. 29, 2018
Playtime is kids’ time. But schools can and should create play environments that help kids be their best. Studies show that recess matters: a thoughtful approach to recess improves children’s physical health and social and emotional learning. Playworks helps schools and districts make the most of recess through on-site staffing, consultative support, professional development, free resources, and more. We also support youth programs and other organizations that wish to improve playtime. Organizations like SHAPE America, The Centers for Disease Control, and City Year all look to Playworks to inform practice and policy. |

New on the horizon is that this program is moving from the Waukesha campus, across from the YMCA to the Pewaukee campus in January. Caring For Others
Dec. 03, 2018
John Certalic ismanaging director of CARING FOR OTHERS and author of "The Richer Life Found in Caring for Others". Relating Well by Listening Well If there was only one area we could work on to improve our relationships it would be to listen well. It’s the perfect gift we can give people on our Christmas list, and it won’t cost one cent. Henri Nouwen said this about listening: “The beauty of listening is that those who are listened to start feeling accepted, start taking their words more seriously, and start discovering their own true selves. Listening is a form of spiritual hospitality by which you invite strangers to become friends, to get to know their inner selves more fully, and even dare to be silent with you." |
