Another Addition to The Rotary FamilyToday was an outstanding day for Arlington Sunrise Rotary. We inducted our newest member Steve Cantrell a professional photographer in Arlington Texas, USA. Jake Hardin presented the Club with the net proceeds of the Arlington Sunrise Rotary Invitational Golf Tournament. The club had a record net income of USD$12,000.00 this is a 600% increase over last years golf tournament. We would like to extend a thank you too all of our sponsors this year. This money will go to Rotary programs around the world and locally. This Friday also marked the end of the first six weeks of the school year which means that we will present our first set of bikes at Thornton Elementary School in Arlington Texas under our attendance program. Our program today was Arlington Fire Chief Don Crowson. The Chief provided great insight into the functions of the Arlington Fire Department. Get To KNow Us ... Hanna, Howard and CurtisThis mornings meeting was full of excitement and energy. We had four guest and three visiting Rotarians. PDG John Miller visited the Club this morning. The program today was classification talks by Ron Hanna, Donn Howard and Sydney Curtis. These Rotarians had some gret stories and information about themselves that they shared with the Rotary Club. Some notable information was the Hanna was a fighter pilot who flew on the Midway in Southeast Asia, attended Top Gun, and made the last flight of an American Airlines plane that currently hangs in the Smithsonian Museum, D.C. Howard, at a very young age, became a car enthusist to the point of being able to recognize vehiles in the dark by their tail lights, owns a atomotive repair shop but has an econimics and finance degree, Curtis, grew up in the family printing business but yet made the choice to be in the roofing business, he said he got to make the choice unlike the printing business. The Club is preparing for the September 6th and the September 11 Flag Days. Remembers to support your teams and assist other teams. A major highlight and accomplishment for the Club that occured Friday was the completion of two (2) membership proposal applications were turned in to the Club Secretary. These two members will be addressed at the Board Meeting on September 8, 2010. If approved these members will complete 1/3 of the goal for 2010-2011 Rotary year. YOU ARE RESPONSIBILE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE ROTARY CLUB. WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR YOUR PART?

Isn't it amazing what a unique feeling of satisfaction comes to us when we respond to a real call for help? Rotarian's share a tremendous secret and a universal truth and that is, real happiness, perhaps the deepest of human longings, can be found most easily by helping others." PPRI Cliff Dochterman stated these words in his address to Rotarians around the world as his year as President of Rotary International.
