Early in 2013, Arlington Sunrise Rotary Club and Arlington Parks and Recreation
Department started a round of major maintenance on the playground that was
constructed by Sunrise Rotary in 2005.

The bulk of the playground was constructed of plastic and wood fiber material that was selected for minimum
weather deterioration, and the material has held up very well.

But some hangers, hinges and supports were metal. All of the wearable parts,
mostly the working metal connections, have now been replaced and all of the
painted surfaces were repainted. The chain bridge (or chain ladder) shown
in the photos was the last item scheduled for replacement

This project was led by Sunrise Rotarian Jack Thornton. Jack has
monitored the playground for needed refurbishment and organized
work teams when needed.

The top two photos show the chain bridge before and after replacement.

The bottom photo shows Sunrise Rotarians Don Mims, Jack Rogers, and Richard Lucas (L-R).
