Introduction
The Rotary Club of Los Altos created the Los Altos Rotary Endowment Fund (LAREF) as a separate organization in 1978 to increase the club’s charitable giving impact in the local and world community. LAREF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with its own Board of Trustees.
 
LAREF manages donations and fundraising revenues received by the Rotary Club of Los Altos (LARC) and carefully allocates these funds annually for grants, scholarships, World Community Service programs, and the many other charitable priorities of the club’s membership.
 
All charitable donations to the club are directed to LAREF, thus making them tax deductible for the donor to the extent allowed by current regulations. LAREF’s Nonprofit Tax ID number 94-2575930.
 
Board of Trustees
LAREF’s Board has nine trustees, six that are elected by the LARC membership and three ex-officio trustees. The term of the elected trustees is four years. All LAREF trustees are active LARC members.
