LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE
Aug. 01, 2017
Question: What do Lance Armstrong, Chris Christie and Vladimir Putin have in common? Answer: Traci Brown’s revealed their secrets to the world. And she’s told the world what they’re not saying. NBC, CBS and Fox have asked this body language expert to reveal secrets hidden in plain sight. And she can help your team reveal the secrets your clients are keeping from you that are impacting your bottom line. In her fast paced, interactive programs that are sure to entertain, Traci teaches lie, fraud and identity theft detection she’s used to get to the truth in billion dollar business deals, crimes and politics. Traci is not only a master lie detector, she’s a persuasion expert. Her persuasion system landed her a lucrative product deal with Kevin Harrington, a Shark from ABC’s hit show Shark Tank and took her on a wild ride to the big time consumer markets of TV shopping channels, infomercials and beyond. You’ll be able to immediately use the same tools to create more success in your own organization and personal life…so you see more zeroes (before the decimal) in your bank account. Traci has even adapted the skills to talk herself out of an embarrassing number of traffic tickets. She’ll teach you how to do it, too! After her fast paced, interactive programs that are sure to entertain, you’ll be able to immediately use the same tools to create more success in your own organization and personal life…so you see more zeroes (before the decimal) in your bank account. Traci is a Three Time US Collegiate Cycling Champion and former member of Team USA. Yeah, she’s fast on 2 wheels and looks pretty good in spandex. And just ask her how she used body language to win bike races. Yep, it’s true. She is the past president of the National Speaker’s Association Colorado Chapter and the author of four books, How to Detect Lies, Fraud and Identity Theft, Persuasion Point, Body Language Confidential and Body Language for Profits. She lives in Boulder CO with her rocket scientist husband and her Siberian Husky. |

ISLAM
Aug. 15, 2017
As it stands today, Islam is the most misunderstood and misrepresented religion in the world. Conflicts and violence rooted in differing religious beliefs, opposing political ideologies and territorial disputes, are often labeled Islamic causing the West to view Muslims as the source of this evil. However, many are unaware of the 1.3 billion people in the midst of these struggles that manage to find peace in Islam. Iman is the Executive Director and Founder of the locally based non-profit, Meet The Middle East, (MTME), which fosters relationships between the US and the Middle East through education and immersion travel. As a first-generation Palestinian American, Iman is fluent in Arabic and maintains a second home in Ramallah, Palestine. Using her background and education, she offers alternative travel opportunities for Americans to Palestine, Israel, Jordan and Egypt that are otherwise unseen in the West. She also locally hosts cultural and educational programs through MTME for those unable to travel to insure exposure to the Middle East. Entities ranging from Children’s Hospital to the US Districts Attorney’s Office often call on her expertise to consult about the geo-political situation of the Middle East or Islam. As the Spokeswoman for the Colorado Muslim Society, Iman also plays a major role in representing Muslims on a variety of social justice arenas statewide. Iman lectures at the University of Denver’s University College Enrichment Program and teaches The Israeli Palestinian Conflict: From Ancient History to Today’s Headlines as well as Life Under Occupation: A Palestinian Perspective. In 2006, she received her master’s in Public Policy from the University of Colorado at Denver where she focused her graduate studies on urban redevelopment and citizen participation in the West Bank. Subsequently, she worked for the Abraham Path Initiative where she assisted with fundraising, women’s engagement, policy and economic development in the Middle East. She also worked at the University of Denver’s Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning where she had the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge on structuring and implementing service learning projects.

Drones @Work @1UP - Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Industry Overview
Aug. 22, 2017
1UP Aerial Drone Services, Inc., headquartered in scenic Golden, Colorado, provides aerial services to a wide range of industries including engineering, commercial real estate, land development, construction, insurance, forensic science, surveying, and heavy industry utilities. Mr. Adams serves as Land Liberator and 3D Memory Maker, aka 1UP CEO, FAA Part 107 Certified Pilot, and tenured IT, Cloud industry veteran who spent 25 years in the high-tech industry. We see the intersection of what leading edge companies can do with unmanned aircraft and the “industrial strength, information gatherers” that drones represent. Combine drones with aerial inspection, orthomosaic photos, videos, 3D modeling, GIS software, and we see our clients get extremely excited about the opportunity to integrate these new, state of the art, aerial services into their business processes. For example, HDR Engineering recently contracted 1UP to provide timely, cost effective, marketing photos for a 9 mile stretch of I-70 for an expansion pursuit. Historically the project would have required an expensive helicopter, or fixed wing aircraft, months of scheduling and coordination. 1UP accomplished the mission in 1 week from contract authorization to finished delivery of the photographs. Frequently companies are also looking for new state of the art data acquisition, “actionable intelligence” solutions. 1UP combines drone flights, 3D Models, and GIS information over large commercial tracts of land to provide city planning, due diligence, surveying, inventory/stockpile measurements (volume, cut, fill), water rights management, and “voila” we create robust 3D GIS models from the raw land. These models provide companies a revolutionary new business decision making capability at 80% less cost than traditional methods. Mr. Adams is a well-respected, engaging speaker on Emerging Technology, Cloud, and IoT. When Chuck is not running 1UP, and flying drones you will find him skiing, on the racquetball court, or hiking the outdoors with his 2 dogs Scout and Caymus. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and is married to Kimberly. They have 3 daughters, 1 son, and 3 grandchildren. |

ANNUAL CLUB VISITATION AND PRESENTATION
Oct. 10, 2017
Abbas Rajabi, an American by choice, grew up in Hamadan, Iran in a large family. His passion for education brought him to the United States where he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas in Arlington. After working at several large companies, Abbas decided that his entrepreneurial spirit was too strong to deny. He began several small businesses in Texas, South Carolina and then Colorado while also building a family. Most recently, he is the founder and president of Mohegan Capital, a private real estate investment fund specializing in value-add and income producing industrial real estate. Abbas is a very proud Denver Southeast Rotarian; he believes Rotary is the most prestigious Service, Philanthropic and Networking organization ever. Abbas has a great passion for service. As tragedies erupted around the world, he channeled the power of his Rotary family to help those in need. His passion for education inspired him to create “Pencils for Peace” - a program that gave school supplies to Afghan children. Abbas along with his Rotary friends were involved in remodeling numerous orphanages in Mexico as well as the coordination and execution of a trip to Thailand to help victims of the 2004 Tsunami. After the 9/11 attacks in 2001, Abbas arranged a fundraiser to benefit the brave NYFD firefighters and took a check to the New York City Rotary club. At the height of the housing crisis in the United States, Abbas coordinated the efforts of Rotarians and volunteers to help families in Denver’s east Colfax area motels buy much needed food and gifts during the holiday season. When Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy and the tornados in Joplin, Missouri happened, Abbas was quick to organize his club and the Rotary District to help those in need. Most recently Abbas served on the District’s Flood Relief Committee, fundraising for victims of the 2013 Boulder flood. In 2002-2003 he was named District 5450’s Rotarian of the Year, and remains a committed Rotarian after more than 25 years. Abbas is married to Sami Rajabi who he met in Iran while in high school. Their first big adventure together was when Sami joined Abbas in the United States over 44 years ago. She is involved in their businesses, and uses her financial acumen and passion to help ensure a successful family business. Sami and Abbas are proud of their four very accomplished children; a journalist and mother, a lawyer and volunteer firefighter, a physician at Harvard, and a post-doctoral fellow at U of Penn Annenberg School. All of the Rajabi's children are also Paul Harris Fellows. They have two grandchildren who bring them great joy. Aside from time with family, Abbas and Sami love spending what time they may have dreaming about traveling, reading, boating, watching films, grilling on the back deck and hosting their friends for fun, food, and fellowship! |

CITY OF LITTLETON - AGING WELL RESOURCE CENTER
Oct. 24, 2017
Claire Mattoon is the Programming and Outreach Librarian and Aging Well Resource Center Program Coordinator for the Bemis Public Library in Littleton. Born and raised on the North Front Range of Colorado, she has always had a passion for books, reading, and libraries. A Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Denver has allowed her to earn money for the time she would be spending at the public library anyway. She has been at Bemis Public Library for four years, working with teenagers, adults, and seniors, focusing on providing programs and events to engage and inform the community. Her passion for sharing knowledge and resources can't be contained in just four walls, so it's a good thing that her job now calls for her to go out into the community, and bring the library to the people! |

LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE
Nov. 07, 2017

GROWING STRONGER TOGETHER
Nov. 28, 2017
Jim Rohrer, our District Visioning Chair, has developed a program to help clubs identify their strengths and areas where improvement is possible. Growing Stronger Together gives club members an opportunity to complete an anonymous four question survey to see what aspects of the club the members consider to be strengths or non-strengths. The idea is to utilize the results of the survey as a logical starting point for some new club initiatives. Jim presented the program and survey to Carbon Valley Rotary in September – the club had a 92% participation rate. Sixty-five percent of the members said they joined Rotary as an opportunity for service, and while the club does focus a majority of efforts on community service, many survey comments noted a lack of true community impact. Club President Beverly Mendel stated “the survey results were a real “eye-opener” and members and the board have already had several brainstorming sessions including the possibility of varying meeting times and surveying the three towns about community needs.” |

Littleton Rotary continues its ongoing partnership with South Suburban Parks & Rec Dist to help make the Holiday Season special for area children and their families. Breakfast With Santa is a Littleton tradition that dates back many years to a time when Littleton Rotary began the Lunch With Santa program focused on needy families and their children who were clients of IFTF (Inter-Faith Task Force), which today is known as Integrated Family Community Services. Today, the happy event is open to all within the Greater Littleton Area. Our Club provides the hands-on help needed in cooking and serving the pancake & sausage breakfast. Some a few of our members help out in the kitchen, but most help by greeting the children and families, serving the plates of pancakes, and busing the tables. The interaction with members of our community is wonderful and your participation is very much needed. Please register to participate in this fun event. We need you! |

ANNUAL CLUB VISITATION AND PRESENTATION
Dec. 05, 2017

MY EXPERIENCE IN PERU AS A CHOICE VOLUNTEER
Dec. 05, 2017
My name is Alexa Nofsinger. I recently graduated from Western State Colorado University with a double Bachelors degree in Business and Psychology. I am getting my graduate certification in Multi Media Journalism and then want to get my Masters in marketing and eventually work for a travel/adventure magazine. In my free time I love to explore the mountains with my dog either by foot or by jeep, practice photography, spend time at the gym, and write on my blog.
I've been to 13 countries in the last five years. I travel because I am curious to see what kinds of landscapes, cultures, foods, and people are all over the world. My last trip was to Peru with a Utah based company called CHOICE. I chose to venture with CHOICE not only because it gave me an opportunity to experience another beautiful country, but also because I wanted my next trip after studying abroad to be for someone else and not for myself. |
