President's Pen

Last night’s meeting provided an exciting moment when we inducted our second new member this year into the club, Margie Steffens.

In April 2015 Adelaide Light had 38 members and for a variety of reasons our numbers dropped down to 16 which was very concerning. With the addition of Katrina and now Liz and Margie we have climbed up to 19 members, with the expectation that this growth will continue, particularly now that we have relocated back into the city.

It should be noted that the club has 5 honorary members which takes our total membership to 24, a much healthier figure.

Our meeting last night was a great success with five guests, Rotaractor Louise, Kelly from the Governor's Leadership Foundation, Andy and Christine Van Der Merwe and our guest speaker, Megan Bekesi, The Education Co-Ordinator with East Waste who gave an excellent presentation on the subject of "Talking Rubbish".

Over tomorrow Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Bruce, Angus and myself will be attending the Rotary Conference at Hahndorf and look forward to hearing from some excellent guest speakers.

Last Friday, Yvette, Di and myself helped the Norwood Club at Bunnings Mile End barbeque and collected $249.00 for our club.

Monday 15th. April will see our club at Bunnings Mile End and Di has filled the roster.

Julie Campbell is putting a table together to attend the Rotaractor's Quiz Night on Friday 24th. May at Pulteney Grammar, so let her know if you can attend.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 4th. April for breakfast at 7.15am. at the Ibis Hotel and Julie will be in charge of proceedings at I will be in Victoria.

Adelaide City Rotaract Quiz Night

Adelaide City Rotaract Club are holding their annual quiz night at Pulteney Grammar School on May 24 2019.

This year we are focusing on a project to help provide primary school students with essential school equipment. Schools in low socio-econimic areas often have students join their school in the middle of a term and the students arrive with little or no school equipment. Our goal is to provide enough back packs, pencil cases and other essential items such as toothbrushes and socks so that when a new student arrives schools can provide them with a pack on their arrival.

The night will be "Back 2 Skool" themed so wear your best first-day-of-term outfit, bring some money for the canteen and practice your quick-maths!

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.
