Last week our speaker, Don Will, provided an insight into the origin of Calperum, the vision for it' s future and the involvement of Rotarians and Rotary Clubs to achieve this. Our club has visited Calperum on three prior occasions to carry out various work projects and on Thursday morning we presented Don with a cheque indicating that we have taken up the Rotary International President Ian Riseley's tree planting challenge for 2017/18, an initiative to improve our environment for future generations. Our money will assist in the creation of the Riseley Forest at Calperum - at $5 to sponsor a tree, grown from a seedling, planted and watered over it's first summer we have donated over 2 trees per club member. We have also indicated to Don that our club would like to visit Calperum again either to assist in tree planting or other environmental projects during this rotary year.

Please consider registering for the "Dare to be Different" Regional Rotary Membership Conference August 26 & 27 August at Flinders University - this is an issue relevant to our rotary club and rotary worldwide so the more club members who participate the more ideas and actions we can bring back to Adelaide Light.
Thought for the week:
If you meet someone who doesn't have a smile, give them one of yours.
